Question about Dell Inspiron 531s Desktop Computer

My computer got a virus and I couldn't get rid of it so I ran disk check. It came up with about 600 corrupted files which it then deleted or tried to fix. Now nothing on my computer works, none of the music/video/installer things work at all. I don't have my recovery disks because I am in the middle of a move and they're packed and the instructions for using F8 to access recovery partition don't do anything.

Hi,

The only way of recovering the PC is through the Recovery partition..

The correct way of accessing the recovery partition is this way:

1. Turn on the computer
2. As the computer starts, press <F8> on the keyboard until the Advanced Boot Options menu appears on the screen.

NOTE: Please don't hold the F8 key continuously, Just click the F8 intermittently (ie, pressing and releasing and pressing and releasing)

You must press <F8> before the Windows logo appears on the screen. If you press <F8> after the Windows logo appears on the screen, the Advanced Boot Options menu will not appear on the screen. If you do not see the Advanced Boot Options menu, restart the computer, and then repeat this step until you see the menu on the screen.

After doing this, you should definetly get advance boot menu, beacuae the virus can no way harm this as you can login to windows

3. Press the <Down Arrow> on the keyboard to select Repair Your Computer on the Advanced Boot Options menu, and then press <Enter>.

4. Specify the language settings that you want, and then click Next.

5 Log in as a user who has administrative credentials, and then click OK.

6 Click Dell Factory Image Restore.

7 In the Dell Factory Image Restore window, click Next.

8 Click to select the Yes, reformat hard drive and restore system software to factory condition check box.

9 Click Next.
The computer is restored to the default factory configuration.

10 When the restore operation is completed, click Finish to restart the computer.
The software is now installed as it was when the computer was first received

Low disk space


This couldn't be due to a malfunctioning fan, or any other hardware problem, it certainly sounds like a virus but it's hard to know. I advise using this guide t try and remove any viruses or malware.

try to backup all the unaffected files or folders... then reformat it.. thats the easiest thing that you can do to remove that corrupted files..

Maybe. All the OS viruses will be gone, but if you have MBR viruses, you won't get rid of those. Try Microsoft Security Essentials, it's free. Download it and scan your computer.

Recycler folder virus


You don't have a virus, you have the folders without an executeable link. Use windows explorer to delete the files you want to get rid of.

your computer or the source folder must infected by virus. check it with a updated virus cleaner and get the fresh copy (clean) of audio drivers and install.

ur windows files r corrupt or having some viruses in it. scan for viruses n delete corrupt files or the best thing is to format the full hard disk n reinstall operating system n new drivers for all ur devices
