when you insert a battery into a hero3 or 3+ black model you must wait 4 seconds before trying to turn it on or it wont turn on until you remove the battery and then reinsert it while waiting 4 seconds to try and power it up:

Had the same issue, couldnt take the card out of GoPro. I was trying to push it in, pull out... nothing, but ultimately HERO started to act as if the card wasnt inserted at all :(. So I decide to disassemble the camera since I had nothing to lose - I had it delivered from US and live in EU, so no way I would play with guarantee...
Was worth the risk... I disassembled it following the youtube video (simple - 7 screws) and as I tried to take the core out of the casing, the SD card popped out.
I figured out, the reason was, that the card was too thick.. so I removed the sticker on it ( saying that its a 16gb somebrand card ) and then it worked perfectly in and out...
Sorry. That's the way that the GoPro is. It's designed for outside use and the color balance is daylight only. It needs lots of light. If you need to be able to change color balance or work in more limited light conditions then you'll have to get a different camera and housing.
Be sure to have fully charged batteries and format your SD card using the FAT format. Start by taking the batteries and SD card out, then reinserting after at least 30 second. Here's an unofficial GoPro user guide and tip sheet that I hope helps. Please only apply the GoPro firmware update to GoPro Hero Wide cameras - not the Hero 3 or standard lens models. We've found the best way is to remove the SD card and the batteries for at least 30 seconds and then reinstall both and turn the camera on. Remember, that in addition to the data saved on the SD card, by plugging your camera into your PC with the USB cable you will be able to find any images or video stored on the camera's built in memory.
