Check under onboard chip. but if you motherboard doesn't have sound device most likely there is no option on it, if you plug a soundcard into your motherboard it will detect itself as your windows starts. there install the driver.

Onboard sound lost after video card installation

If your PC had an onboard video card before this, you may want to go in and make sure you have disabled it in the BIOS. This has happened to me before.

My sound is not configured and i cannot get the driver.

If you cannot get the driver then you will have to buy a sound card. You should be able to buy them fhow around $20. The card will come with a driver installation CD and instructions on how to install the card and the drivers.

If you do install a sound card, and your previous sould playback device was built into your motherboard you should disable it in the system Bios.

To enter the BIOS setup program, hold down the delete key when you turn on you computer. (On some PC's it will be the F1, F2 or F10 key). Then search through the menus until your find your on-board sound device and change the setting from Enable (or Auto) to Disable. Then exit Bios setup with the save changes option.

Check the BIOS ("del" key upon start-up or "F1, F2 or F10" depending on system to access the menu). Check for audio setting (may need to scroll through menu categories to see if onboard audio is enabled). If disabled, try to enable it by hit spacebar, left/right arrow key or + - keys to change setting. If it is an add-on sound card you may need to install or re-install the drivers and in this case the onboard audio should be disabled in BIOS.

I m unable to open my laptop some kind of

Are you trying literally to open up your Laptop with a screw driver or something... or are you trying to install XP on a Vista pre-installed laptop... Here's the solution...
Go to the BIOS setup [press F8 on startup], & change the disk controller setting from AHCI to IDE. might worth the try. Some Laptops don't have option of SCSI or IDE. But there are SATA Enable/Disable option. Try disabling SATA. Make sure you have all the necessary drivers for your laptop before installing windows...
Let me know if this doesn't solve the problem...

Have reinstalled winxp in my pc.but, now showing Kernal poroblm, and cant install realtek sound-reg

You could check in the Bios to see if your on board audio device is enabled. To get in to Bios press the Del key as the PC starts up but before Windows loads. Then pick Advanced from the options at the top of the bios screen. You should see something like this:
HD Audio Controller [Enabled]
Front Panel Support Type [AC97]
Onboard PCIEX 10/100Mb LAN [Enabled]
LAN Option ROM [Disabled]

If it disabled, enable it and save the settings, then reboot.

If you don't have the manual for the motherboard you can get it from the link below.

Also check here for latest Audio drivers:
