It may well be some form of virus or spyware.

It may also be that you have too many applications running at once eg. lots of toolbars and instant message typ programs.

It can also happen on graphic intensive applications.

You should rule out nasty stuff first.

MBAM !

for a free one its pretty darned good !

From a CLEAN computer download and put on a flash drive.

Copy to your DESKTOP on the suspec computer.

Run it but dont change any options just use what it offers.

When its done let it clean anything it finds.

Its where I always start with an infected machine.

As for antivirus AVOID Norton or Mcafee but try the AVG FREE version MBAM should clean up without buying

Only continued use would require purchase As for too many applications that would be up to you to decide what you REALLY need and dont. Most toolbars are a waste of both time and space and can hog computers down. Maybe a good clean up is in order ?

It may just be a "leaking application"

These are badly coded programs that dont release memory when they should and just keep taking more to do the same job.

May I suggest you download
"hijackthis"

It is a program that can make a report on what you have running in such a way that you can post that information to certain sites and experts there will look at it.

They will then give you reccomendations as to how you can remove programs or fix some issues that may be upsetting your computer.

Dont post the log here but follow the nstructions and help the program offers to send it to one of the sites it will offer you.

If you understand startup lists you may even be able to spot som things yourself that you dont want to run and disable them from hijack this.

I believe that your pc is infected by the virus/worm gphone.exe, which probably spread from yahoo messanger or other messanging program. U can try to clean up this virus by any antivirus application like Kaspersky or AVG, then just check the Windows startup item not to load the "gphone.exe" (just goto Start>Run, type in "msconfig" and check under tab Startup). Or u can revert back/restore back to your previous Windows system before this infection.

It seems that it is looking for some files, one way of disguising a virus is by looking for some files. try to do this, RUN-type MSCONFIG- enter, click start-up and uncheck the box that contains 'gphone.exe". apply then re start your computer.

Upon turning on my pcthere's a note saying "cannot find gphone.exe....what am i going to do to remove that notification?

Go to Filehippo.com, download and install a programme called Ccleaner.

Once done, Click on "Tools" then "Startup"

Delete everything off the startup menu except for virus checking and firewall software. Amongst those titles you delete should be one relating to gphone.

This will take all the programmes out of you startup menu, that you don't immediately need on startup.

You can then use the uninstall function to remove and gphone related software from you laptop is so desired. Finally run the cleaner to get loads of web gunk off you computer you didn't know was there.

Assuming you're absolutely delighted, google Ccleaner, go to the website and make a small donation. Its a brilliant programme.

Windows xp home addition V2002 SP2 gphone.exe not found

The very first thing we do is to solve your problem about the start-up error. For your information, your operating system was corrupt that is why there is prompt error message appear in the windows start-up. The best thing here to do is to start your computer in safe mode and this can be done by pressing F8 key until a operating system menu will appear. Select Safemode and wait until you get into the User Account Login screen. Enter to your account and then restore your computer to an earlier time. Go to All Programs - Accesories - System Tools - and then select System Restore.
But if this procedure failed, the only last thing should be done is to reinstall your computer operating system. Leave comments for further assistants. okay..

Window can not find gphone.exe

Hi,
gphone.exe is nowadays one of the most dangerous virus spreading very fastly. Its a trojan and changes your IE homepage and sends tries to open gtalk and yahoo messenger. It even sends messages to gtalk contacts. Its icon is just like that of folder icon and people thinking of folder click on it get infected by the virus.
Gphone virus basically is a 260 kb .exe file which looks like a folder and it can take any name of any other folder if you have clicked on the virus folder which looks like a folder but it isnt.If you have a folder name “comptalks” in your D drive it will make a exe file in the folder named comptalks.exe and if you click on that exe file it too work as a virus. It makes .exe files in all the folders you have with the name of the folder.
To remove the gphone.exe virus you just need to follow simple steps:
Go to Task Manager ->Processes and then click on gphone.exe and click on end process.
After that manually go to folder where gphone.exe is present and simply delete it.
Or simply search for the exe file clicking which started sending messages through gtalk. If you clicked on 1.exe search for that file on task manager and then delete it.

Good luck.

Windows cannot find gphone.exe??

Gphone.exe is a file that an instant-message worm infects. This worm spreads through Google chat and Yahoo! Messenger. This “Gphone.exe” worm disables your antivirus security software, and downloads more crapware onto your PC.

To remove do this:
1. Block Gphone.exe sites: http://rnd009.googlepages.com/
2. Stop Gphone.exe processes: %Windir%\gphone.exe
%System%\gphone.exe
%System%\DEFAULT_NOT_SET.exe
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop\gphone.exe
%Temp%\gphone.exe
%System%\gphone.exe
%DriveLetter%\New Folder.exe
%DriveLetter%\gphone.exe
[ROOT FOLDER]\New Folder.exe
[ROOT FOLDER]\gphone.exe Get rid of Gphone.exe files:

%DriveLetter%\autorun.inf
%Windir%\Tasks\At1.job
[ROOT FOLDER]\autorun.inf
C:\disk.txt
%System%\autorun.ini
%System%\setting.ini
%Temp%\log_[TIME AND DATE].txt

3. Delete Gphone.exe registry keys using regedit from start - run:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\WorkgroupCrawler\Shares\”shared” = “[ROOT FOLDER]\New Folder.exe”
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\”Yahoo Messengger” = “%System%\gphone.exe”

Cannot find gphone.exe

gphone.exe is a virus that affect google talk or yahoo messenger, to remove it you can download a copy of Eset antivirus.

You could have the same error after the antivirus removal but now the system is clear and you have to delete gphone.exe from your startup files list: start -> run -> msconfig -> go to startup and uncheck gphone. This should help you.

WINDOW CANNOT FIND GPHONE.EXE

Gphone.exe is worm which spreads via instant messengers. It usually affects Yahoo! Messenger and Google Talk applications. Gphone.exe send a message and invites victims to visit a website. If clicked upon, the link actually delivers a copy of Gphone.exe infection.

Most likely you have a security program that detected and removed the threat but windows is still trying to load the file on startup.

Go to Start > Run> type "msconfig" and press enter. click the startup tab and uncheck the box that says "gphone.exe". (it may have a long file or folder path in front like c:\windows\system32).
