  1. Right-Click MY COMPUTER.
  2. Click MANAGE.
  3. Highlight DEVICE MANAGER.
  4. Choose the hardware category your hardware relates to and click the + symbol next to it.
  5. Now Right-Click the specific device you would like to install the driver for and click PROPERTIES.
  6. Click the DRIVER tab located at the top of window.
  7. Click UPDATE DRIVER and browse to location where driver files reside. This will install a new driver or update an existing driver for your H/W.
  8. At times, you will see devices in the UNKNOWN DEVICES category. Devices here are hardware recognized by windows but have no existing drivers installed. It is the same procedure to install drivers for these devices as mentioned in STEP 7.

Try reinstalling the USB drivers.
The same model ThinkPad can have different types of network, video and audio drivers and unless you know exactly which one is installed in your ThinkPad, you need to download all the drivers and install each driver until you find the right driver. When you download the drivers, write down the device driver and it's file name so you have a record of which driver you are installing and which directory the unzipped files are located on your hard drive. Go to the IBM/Lenovo WEB site - support/download page and download the latest Windows device drivers for your model computer, Use this link: - http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/product.do?template=%2Fproductselection%2Flandingpages%2FbrowseByProductLandingPage.vm&sitestyle=lenovo&brandind=10&validate=true

After reformatting my thinkpad r40 2722, lost drivers for internet connection

Hi,
Following the re-install of your OS it is likely that one or more drivers were not re-installed, in particular the network card. I'm not sure which OS you are using but Windows only includes driver support for the most common devices at the time the installation CD was produced.
You can download drivers for your model at http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/default.page? You will need to download them using a different machine and then transfer the network driver (using a disc, pen drive etc) to the laptop and follow the installation instructions.
Once you have restored the network driver you should be able to download any other required drivers direct to the machine.
I hope this helps and good luck! If you have more questions - ask away!

Hi again! What is the best way ,step by step ,to download driver from my usb key to hard drive?

You mean copy a drive from your usb flash card to your hard drive?

If so, go to start, control panel, and find out which drive your usb is on.

Then run the program that wants the driver, and when it asks you where to find it, tell it which drive and directory it's in.

Have re-installed win xp on an IBM T42 laptop, but can not access the internet to update drivers ect

1. if you have wireless, purchase or borrow an add on usb wireless stick. this will allow you to access the internet and add in your missing drivers. 2. or add in a pci card that has ethernet connection to get your drivers. 3. use someone elses computer and download the drivers from the IBM site, put them on a usb stick and then apply them to your unit, (ie more the ethernet driver as a primary and then you can download the remaining ones as you go after it is working. hope this helps.

It has no network driver to connect to the internet how do I do that

Boot up your Toshiba laptop Go to the IBM/Lenovo WEB site - support/download page and download the latest Windows XP or Vista device drivers for your model computer,
Use this link :-
http://www.ibm.com/products/finder/us/finders?pg=ddfinder&cm_re=other-_-suprcn-_-download There may be one or more driver files for each device, depending upon what device is installed on your IBM, download them all because only one will work with your device but you won't know which one until you install it and it works. Then copy the drivers from the Toshiba to a USB memory stick, then remove the memory stick and boot up the IBM R52 and insert the USB memory stick into the R52's USB port. Click on the USB memory device and double click on each of the device drivers. Each driver file will then expand and copy the driver files onto the C drive under a folder called Drivers. Open this folder to view the various drivers and run the Setup file for each driver.

Ibm T42 problem with usb ports and PCMCIA bay

first let me say i take a rather blunt approach to o/s issues, this being said I think re installation of the O/s xp sp3 and then update of the drivers fro the laptop from IBM web site would be the best way to go with this. I feel that most likely the drivers for the ports you are using are not up to date for your devices (usb items).
I appologise if this is not what you wanted to hear but it is the best way to get working thos areas that are malfunctioning at this point.
Last if this does not solve the issue then the Motherboard would be the next item I would investigate as causeing problems a replacement would be called for if it is suspect as damaged or defective.
