I assume you need to know the complete from start to finish instruction. The steps are:

1. Reclaim the refrigerant with a reclamation system and cylinder.
2. Remove the old evaporator and dryer. You need to replace the dryer at the same time.
3. Install the new dryer and evaporator coil.
4. Test for leaks.
5. Vacuum the system with an HVAC vacuum pump for about two hours.
6. Charge the system with R134A using a HVAC manifold attached to both high and low side.

These tasks are not easy, and you will need expensive equipment. It is illegal to discharge R134A into the air in the US. You also need to know how to determine the amount of charge you need, either by weight or by pressure adjusted to the ambient temperature.

If you are an experience HVAC tech, I am sorry for pointing out the obvious. Otherwise, good luck.

Put a white cloth on it. If its green or orange (the same color as your antifreeze) its your heater core going out.

I have a 2001 Chevy Impala and last year it was blowing cold air from a.c. then all of a sudden it quit and started blowing hot air.we put freon in it but apparently it all leaked out.what is wrong with...

Most likely a leaking evaporator(this is a wide spread problem due to a crappy manufacturing process). The evaporator core is a "sandwich" of aluminum sections, with a million possible leak points.I replaced the evaporator on my 98 voyager(same design) with a new one from a company called Evercool(it had a different design that had fewer seams). It outlasted the original part 10 times over.

My 2005 Chevy Impala smells gasy when ever started and sometimes after idling for awhile.

SMELL GAS YOU NEED CHECK ALL FUEL LINES UNDER THE HOOD IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT.IF GAS IS STRONG UNDER HOOD YOU DONT SEE LEAKING FUEL LINES.YOUR FUEL RAIL FUEL INJECTORS LEAKING OR FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR O - RING OR DIAPHRAM LEAKING GAS.IF FIND NO LEAKS UNDER THE HOOD CHECK FUEL LINES UNDER CAR FROM ENGINE TO FUEL TANK FOR LEAKS.IF ALL IS GOOD YOUR EVAPORATIVE CANISTER SOAKED WITH GAS OR YOUR EMISSION EVAPORATIVE SYSTEM NOT WORKING. DEALERSHIP HAS TO CHECK AND FIX.

Heater core instructions for 04 Chevy Impala SS

Before you go thru that expense. If it is water leaking, check the evaporator. Sometimes it gets plugged with debris. So first, decide if it is water or anti-freeze. Also, I have taken the heater hoses off of the inside of the motor area and flushed the core out. It works on some.
