Question about Microsoft ChiMei CMV938D 19" Widescreen LCD Monitor
I have a 19" cmv 938d chimei Lcd monitor. The problem is, that, the screen stays black after turning it on. It may take several attempts of turning it on and off before it stays on. The monitor will stay black also from standby mode and it will need to be turned on and off several times until it finaly stays on.
I have had the monitor from new, for the last 1/half yrs.
Sound like your display is having issues with the inverter board. When the power supply detects a short circuit, it turn off by itself. When you try several times, you may be able to "bypass" the circuit protection but the damaged parts still having problems. This issue may be related with the DELL display issues.
The display needs to be fixed by someone with experience in electronics repair.

SOURCE: I have a 19" cmv
How old is it? If it still under warranty get it repaired, it sounds like the switch is gone or the energy saving s/w inside is bad and is not detecting when/when not to turn the display on/off.
