The dvd tray is stuck. I put a dvd in it earlier today, and now the tray will not open. when i press 'open/close', I see 'opening...'. If I press the open/close button again, I see 'closing...'. But I hear nothing and nothing happens. I unplugged the system and turned it off for 20+ minutes. Then turned back on, but still the same thing is happening. Please help.

I would like specific advise for the Bose AV48 Media Center. This is my friend's machine, and I am house-sitting. I want to be 100% sure the expert is familiar with the Bose AV48 Media Center.

There is no hole in the front of this Bose Media Unit. So I cannot stick a pin inside the hole to open the tray.

This media system is more complicated than a simple dvd unit.

    Hi Eske,

This sounds good. It's so late here now and I'm going to sleep. I'll try this during the day tomorrow and get back to you.

    Thanks so much!

    Hi Eske,

I just made a sad attempt to open the case as you suggested, and I chickened out. This is my friend's system, as I am house-sitting. I am afraid to break something.

Thanks for your help, anyway. If I need assistance in the future, I will certainly seek you out.

If you are outside of warranty, you can open up the whole player, and take the cd out, plug in the power and try ejecting the drive while you have the cover open, don't touch the internals aside from the tray while you have it plugged in.

Try ejecting / opening the drive, try to help it with your fingers, the drive may simple have become stuck.

If the drive opens and it stays open, doesn't close when you press close, the rubber cord that moves the tray in and out with the help of the small motor may have become off its place or the motor may have stopped working.

    No problem, sounds good.

  • Ekse Sep 30, 2009

its not difficult to open the case, unscrew all screws you find, look for hidden screws under soft objects and labels, in the end the case may be hold in place with plastic clips, use a flat screwdriver to open up the case.

Check to see if there is a small hole drilled in the front panel of the dvd unit

If there is then insert a straightened paper clip into that hole and push the door should open

Hi there,

Please follow the below steps to remove the disk -

1. Unplug the DVD player and take the outer casing of the DVD player off. This entails either taking out two or three screws or simply sliding one of the pieces of plastic in either direction.

2. Locate the disc loader cover. The disc loader cover is located where the extending DVD tray finally comes to rest within the DVD player. It’s the part that holds the DVD loader in place.

3. Bend the two tabs outward that hold the loader in place. This is a delicate procedure because you don’t want to hurt the device. The tabs are relatively easy to break since they're plastic in most cases.

4. Slide the disc tray out. If your disc got stuck before it was read, it's probably still on this tray. If so, your problem is solved. However, if the disc was fully set and loaded, the job isn’t quite finished yet.

5. Move the small mechanical arm that holds the disc in place over so that the disc and the reader are both exposed. Some DVD players will not have anything holding the disc in place. Instead, these devices use a system not unlike that of a common DVD case. The DVD will be locked in place in the center.

6. Carefully lift the disc up and out of its loaded position in the DVD player. This may entail sliding the disc reading mechanism over slightly. This won't hurt the device as long as you’re careful. You should be able to access and remove the disc.

Good Luck!!

Thanks

DVD disc stuck in vision plusTV/DVD combo

There should be a tiny hole somewhere on the front of the DVD tray, where you put the disk in. If it's not on the tray itself, it should be very close to it. Bend a paper clip out a bit, and carefully press it into that tiny little hole, and the tray should open up. If that doesn't work, then it's physically jammed, and mechanically unable to open.

DVD Tray in computer not opening

there should be a small hole on the front of the tray that you can push a pin in from and it will eject the tray. if its stuck and you still need to hit it, would be best to use your warranty to get it fixed or take it apart yourself and make sure noting is blocking the tray from opening. you may have to take the tray apart and put it back together to get it to work normally.

DVD Eject tray stuck

I took a stake knife from the kitchen and pried open the tray door as I hit the eject button this got it to open, I then cycled eject and close, eject close a few times and this did the trick, I even played a DVD and that worked fine also. I had the problem with the tray not opening, and the display would read OPEN when I hit eject and I could hear it trying to open. So I wanted to make sure the tray wasn't just stuck or wedged before I took the system apart and looked for sripped out plastic gears or the belt being broken. GoodLuck rayruiz10@yahoo.com

The tray is either broken, or off track. You may be able to get it back on track by opening the cover and checking it out, but unplug it first, and only try this if warrantee is over and you're feeling brave...

Since it is unusable try this. It might help to have so\meone assist if the unit is heavy.
Raise unit and lower the tray end about 45 degrees down, while lightly shaking press the tray open, they might just fall out.

Tray won't open

What your husband is doing appears to be the right approach. Looks like the CD was not inserted properly and must've gone out of its seating and preveting the door from opening. Just pusing the CD back to position should take care of it.
