Yes, I DID mention the brand - XMS5119N. Please reply based on that TV set

  • erasmusj Sep 29, 2009

The TV is an XMS brand with the Model Number XMS 5119N. It could be a purely Australian model made in China.

The manual is in very poor English hence my request for help. There is no SCAN on the Menu

Sorry, no reset function. You have to manually go into to menu, sleect channel auto program and selet go/start (select cable or Antenana if you have no cable). The tv will go through all 125 channels and set them based on if theres a picture on it or not (takes 2-5minutes). Once its done some sets auto exit the menu and other you will have to manually exit the menu.

You have not mentioned the brand ( not that it matters a lot) But if you go into MENU and SCAN Digital and Scan Analogue it will redo all the channels for you. Read the manual and look at DISPLAY usually there is an indication to accept DEFAULT which resets it back to factory defaults.

Hope that helps you

Thankis for using FIXYA

What buton do press to get the channels?

Hello
To tune the TV either with cable of trerrestrial antena, plug in the cable or terrestrial antena cable to the antenna socket of the TV and do the following.

To preset a channel or to change a preset channel, follow the procedure below.

1) Press the POWER button to turn on the TV.

2) Press the MENU button so that the menu display appears

on the TV screen.

3) Press the CH(annel) ? or ? button to point to "CHANNEL SET".

Then, press the VOL(ume) ? button.

4) Press the CH(annel) ? or ? button to point to "AUTO PRESET CH".

Then, press the VOL(ume) ? button.

The tuner scans and memorizes all active channels in your area.

? The TV distinguishes between standard TV channels and cable (CATV)

channels.

? When AUTO PRESET CH action is completed, the lowest memorized

channel reappears on the screen.

? When you press the CH(annel) ? or ? button after selecting "AUTO PRESET CH",

the tuner will stop at the memorized channels only.

? The TV may recognize TV channels to be CATV channels by receiving conditions. In this case,

try AUTO PRESET CH action again in the fine receiving conditions.

? When AUTO PRESET CH is activated where there is no TV signal input, "NO TV SIGNALS"
will appear on the display after the completion of channel scanning.
OK.

Tuning a sony trinitron tv

Most of the sony TV's comes with an auto tuning facility and all your need is ensure that the RF inout/cable TV or antennae is plugged into before the auto tuning is activated.
The auto tuning is available inthe older models on the set and in the newer models on the remote control. Choose program menu , tuning, auto mode.
Also you can search inthe manual mode individually and preset the channels position to your convenience such as news channels together, movies together etc.

How do I tune TV channels on my Sharp CX48G4 TV without a remote control? There is no tuning / settings panel on the TV itself which is very strange.

press the preset button on the front panel once then (TV should be on) the on the screen there should be words the likes of (Auto VHF 1 60.00mhz) now the Auto stands for auto tuning VHF stands for its frequency where its going to search the 1 stands for the channel where its going to start with 60.00mghz stands for the lowest signal to which its going to start now that you have understood all that just press the volume up button then it will automaticly locate all your working channels leave till it stops for when does it will start from channel 1 to which I believe that you be able to see the channel working so press the up button on the channel button to check the rest of your channels hope this will solve your problem!

Tuning in the tv

Most TV's auto search feature will try both the Cable and the Air frequencies, but perhaps yours doesn't. Go to the menu page for tuner setup and make sure it is set on Air (might be called broadcast) and then run the channel search.
Cable channels and Broadcast channels (above channel 12) are not the same frequencies.
Hope Ya Fix It!
