Dear Sir,

Welcome to Fixya
Your computer showing dual booting window, that means two operating systems are installed in your system,so it prompts user to select an operating system to boot. This windows appear only when more than one operating system installed in your system. To overcome this you can edit boot.inf file,or format your hard disk and reinstall operating system.
I think it helps.

Have a Nice Day!

This happens when there is more than one OS on your PC. Usually the latter installation is set as the default OS. In your case you probably have XP Home Edition on choice no. 2 and Windows 7 or Vista as choice no. 1.
this problem is easily corrected. Go to Start menu and start Run program. Enter msconfig in Run
A window will open. Go to the second tab that says Boot. You will see your two Boot options listed here along with some other options and the timeout input box (which probably has 30 listed there).
The default OS is what is loaded automatically if a selection has not been made. Choose Windows XP Home Edition and press Set as default button.

I lost my product key is there anything i can do

About only thing you can legally do is contact Dell if you have registered your computer with them and ask for it. They will ask you some information and if it matches they might be able to give you the one you registered. If you haven't then nothing you can really do. Except an illegal method would be ask you friends or family if they have "windows home edition" installed on their computer and if they know the key. As long as its "windows home edition" it should work. Again the 2nd part is against copy-write laws.

Win XP Home no longer works, won't boot from cd/or hd

You have a virus most likely. You will need to boot with an antivirus cd & let it scan & repair the virus damage. After this is done you should have control of your system again. Hope this helps.

XP SP3

You will have to boot from the disc and erase the whole Vista install to make this possible.

1) Turn off the computer with the XP disc inside then restart.

2) Pull up the boot menu at the first screen that pops up (Usually the PC brand logo). You can do this by pressing F12 on most computers but it may be different, it's usually written on the first screen if it is.

3) In the boot menu there are choices like, HDD, PXE, etcetera. Pick the one that says CD-Rom OR Optical Drive OR DVD-ROM.

4) It should start loading. Follow the steps and do a full format whn it asks.

BEWARE! This will erase ALL of your data.

Ethernet controller, Multemedia controller, PCI Modem and Video controller dont work since i've installed home edition

I will try. First, upgrade xp to xphome? I think XP home is not an upgrade from anything except maybe Win Me or 9x. As far as I understand it, XP home is the lowest flavor of Win that is currently being supported. That being said, Heres my idea.

I don't know the type of lap you have so I cant look for it myself but if you go to your manufactures web site you should be able to find updated drivers for your Laptop. Usually it can be found under the heading "support" or "downloads". They will ask for your model # and then provide you with a list of drivers and such. If you include your Make and Model# I can help further. But I bet you just the need to update the drivers.
