If your cam use manufactors rechargeble batt.:
Make sure that you are installing a fresh/ full charge battery
Remove the battery
Clean the metal contacts on the battery using a clean cloth

Pls test with an alt. batt.
If you do not have access to a dif. battery.
Pls. take the batt out of the camera. Insert the charger into the unit from the main socket and turn the camera on. If the camera works you will need to replace the batt. If not you will need to order a No power repair.

M863 lens extends and then immediately retracts

Kodak Easyshare cameras use Li ion batteries, as recommended by the manufacturer, which have higher voltages but not necessarily higher amp hours per battery pack.

When I first bought my 14.1 megapixel camera from Kodak, I tried various batteries, including Alkaline, Ni MH, and they didn't work very long before needing replacement or recharging.

This is because the voltage isn't enough on other batteries.

I do not understand why they make it this way, because it fooled me a lot. I thought that since it had a AA format that it would be alright to use AA batteries of any type in the camera. But, this is not so, in my experience.

Good luck getting your camera to work with new Li Ion Batteries.
Note: if the Li Ion batteries do not work, then there is something wrong internally with your camera.

Contact kodak.com to see if it is economically repairable.

Clean the contacts inside the battery compartment with a cotton swab "dampened" with rubbing alcohol. Do the same to the battery and the charger.

Every time i turn on my camera it turns off right away. the only way it stays on is if its in favorites.

Get to the menus if you can. Then set all menu settings to factory settings. Try the camera then.
If the error continues, then the camera may need repairs.

When i turn on the camera the lens comes out and retracts immediately

Here are the steps:

1. Make sure you will install a new or fully charged battery/batteries into your camera.

2. Clean the battery contacts.

a. Remove the battery/batteries and the memory card from your camera, then wipe the battery contacts with a soft, clean cloth.
b. Reinstall the battery/batteries into your camera

3. Without the memory card, turn on your camera.

If issue persists, call 1.800.235.6325 for repair.

Thanks.

My camera turns on, then it turns off right after.

My kodak camera is 2.5 years old when suddenly did this a few times then completely refused to turn on at all. Research showed me that this is a firmware issue in Kodak cameras. Kodak will look at it and try to fix it for $70 which is not worth it in my case as I paid $130 for the camera brand new 2.5 years ago.

KODAK M863 LENS STUCK

Here's what I did...Mine had the lens stuck out and would not power on. Just a green blinking for a second or two. Well, I tried twisting the lens ring closest to the camera while hitting the power button. It's kinda tricky to do...BUT, just keep at it. Mine was a $1 resale shop "find" and now it works. This worked for me. Maybe it will help you!
