Question about Canon PIXMA MX700 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

It will not scan instead it states it is not connected to the port, I tried several things including going through all the screen help supplied by Canon's website. it refuses to get out of fax report output waiting. each time I try and reset it only beeps and does nothing returning to the report fax screen again I did everything stated by Canon's website and still I cannot scan a page from the flatbed nowq instead it flashes waiting for report and then memorty reception mode. When I tell it to go ahead and print a report it tells me there is no paper in the front tray when there physically IS!

Try switching everything off, and on again.
Make sure you switch on the scanner before the computer.
If this fails, contact the manufacturer direct. They are usually quite helpful.

Downloading stops and a box comes up stating connection with the server was reset

This is common with slower / larger files. Use a Freedownload Manager. It will allow you to re-instate where it left off instead of beginng again.

Product scans but then I can't find the result

The first thing I recommend you try is a new data cable. Scanners require bi-directional communication and will fail even when the printer works. Similarly go for a direct connection instead of using a print server or USB hub. (I have a scanner that had the same problem - the preview scan started but no image saved due to a bad cable.) If you are using a parallel port connection, make sure that bi-directional communication is set for the port (in the BIOS). If you use a USB to parallel port adapter, make sure it is a bi-directional (for scanner) adapter.

I hope this helps.

I,m running windows7 and using a lexmarl X7170 printer i keep getting a can not communicate message i've uninstalled and reinstalled several time HELP

Check your cables and ports. The most frequent issue is a bad cable so try a new one. Next try plugging into a different port. If you have a print server or USB hub, try a direct connection. (Scanning is more sensitive to a problem with the connection but the printer can also have issues.)

Check if a known working device works in the computer. (You may want to check if the USB ports are powering down for security or power savings. Check the device manager for the first and the advanced settings from the Screen Saver for the second.)

I hope this helps.

Problem with serial port on T23 thinkpad. It

It may be a number of things, could you include some more information, it's too open ended to answer. How long has it been happening, was it working before, did you get a virus, is something different than before it started. It may be your firewall or virus program shutting, or several other things, please try to be more specific, as I hate to guess at stufff like this. Did you go into the BIOS and change any settings? or install any new hardware that may be grabbing the port, like a printer?

Dell 8200 Dimension shuts down on bootup. Making

The clinking sound could well be your drive heads snapping back into parking location if your power supply is going out. Since the 8200 comes with a pretty weak power supply those tend to go out shortly after you've upgraded to a better graphics card or added another drive to the system. I've replaced mine a few times and now have a 450 watt supply in it which seems to be able to handle a powered video card and the 2nd HD, 2nd dvd without running out of juice.
Another good thing for these old dimensions is the addition of a case /slot fan to help with cooling a bit more. (see included picture)
I've had dealings with a number of dimensions from this era not cooling enough and the slot fans really helped stability.5a04930.gif
Let me know if any of this helps your situation.

Using D-link dp-300 Printer Canon ImargeClass MF4350d (Multifunction printer) Problem. I can not use scanner fanction. (no problem for printer) Without printer server, I able to use the scanner.

The problem you are having is pretty standard, the IP based printing works for most printers but the scanner require direct(or well faked, direct) connectivity with a USB port which most routers do not provide.

Several companies including Startech and Io Gear make Virtual USB devices which would resolve the issue.

How they work differs as instead of creating an IP printer, the usb device installs on an ip and then a driver you install on your PC(s) connect to the unit over the router and sets up a virtual USB port on your machine so you can re-install the printer as a local printer attached to what it thinks is a local USB port.

Doing this will allow you all functionality the printer offers but will slow down printing and scanning a bit

Hope this Helps,

Can't scan documents

For the system to work completely; you need the print driver, scan driver and smarthru4.

Once you install the scan driver (available on Samsung website); the issue will go away.

Also, another trick; instead of using the smart thru - which is kind of awkward, download Picasa 3 and if you have installed the scan driver correctly, you can use Picasa to import the scans by controlling the printer. It also allws for some other tweaks that are not so easy to get to in Smart Thru.

In addition to Picasa you can use several other graphic applications to scan the image.

Good luck.
