I posted the problem. I have Windows XP Service pack 3 indeed..... So nikeananth you should be right, because the camera worked time ago (may be before software update).
Since I'm not an expert, how should I proceed then (no allowed to change Windows)
Should I go to Sony's website ? What should I do then ? Thanks in advance again

Hi pablomandzij

Camera should be ok. Most probably, it is the driver. have you changed or upgraded your OS? Reinstall the driver and software if you have the disk. OR download from Sony website and reinstall. Chances are the camera will work fine.

Good luck

If your computer is not recognizing this camera, then you may need some drivers to install on your computer. If any CD came with the camera, put that in your computer. If not, then go to this website and look for the drivers that match your operating system.

Sometimes a certain usb port, for whatever strange reason, will not detect. Try a different usb port, and see if that helps. You might have a bad cord, so try a card reader if you have one. You might install the CD that came with the camera, if you have it.
Good luck, and hope this helps.

"cannot detect camera"

Have you tried installing the software and then rebooting the computer. Quite often that's all that's required for the computer to recognize the camera.

My sony cybershot T2 is no longer recognized by any computer I connect it to via USB. But when I connect my sister's camera (also a T2), it works fine? please help

You may have a bad USB in your camera connector in your camera. Any repair shop should be able to repair for less than $50.00. Also check that you do not have a bad cable. You may also want to try on a different computer than yours. if it works you may have a driver or USB conflict with your computer.

Can't import pictures from my sony cybershot dcsw70 camera

Try replacing the data cable.
Try replacing the Pro Duo Memory stick, or use a card reader to test the memory card.
Test the camera on a different USB port, and then on a different computer.

This can tell you if the problem is the computer or the camera.

If the problem is the camera , then the USB data port may be defective.

If the problem is computer, try doing a system restore to a date before problem started.
If that does not help you may need to reinstall the system.

Device Not Recognized

This problem mainly occurs because Sony does not support connection though Hubs or for that matter Front Panel USB ports. Try connecting the camera throught the back panel ports (There are usually four to six of these depending on your motherboard.) .

If it still remains unresolved:
1. Update windows XP to atleast service pack two (If you havent already). Uninstall Picture Motion Browser.

2. Uninstall the camera from the device manager.
This is how to do it. Connect the camera, wait for it to show as an unrecognised device. Hit "Windows + Pause/Break" to bring up system properties. (Windows is the key next to alt, that brings up the start menu.). Navigate to the hardware tab and choose device manager. Expand the last tree from the list (One for USB devices) and delete the entry "Unrecognised Device" (Select it and hit delete). Shut the device manager. Disconect the camera.

3. Now, connect the camera the one of the USB ports on the back of your PC and power it on. It should show up as a PTP/Mass storage (depending on your camera settings) device.

4. If it still doesn't work, disconnect all other USB devices from your PC and then repeat from step 2.

5. You can reinstall Picture motion Browser if you like or use Xp's photo transfer utility.

Hope this solves your problem.

Cheers,
Shaunak

Picture cannot be transfer to computer

What version of windows do you have? If you are using Windows XP, you just need to plug the supplied cord into the camera, and then plug the usb lead into the computer. Windows XP will automatically recognize the camera and you will be ready to unload in about 2-3 minutes the first time you plug it in. The pc will recognize the camera as a removable drive, so go into "MY COMPUTER" and look for a removable drive called "Sony". Navigate thru the first folder until you get to the picture files.

Recognition problem with Sony DSC-P50

Most digital cameras software require that the camera be in playback mode (mode for viewing photos) before the computer will recognize the camera. If that is not the solution, be sure to go back and read your Sony User's Manual and see if you are overlooking something. If you are unable to get the computer to recognize the camera you can always buy a card reader (about $20).
