Tom Tom One slow to configure with satellite

Tom Tom One takes forever to connect to satellite. Recently I drove for 20 min and it did not connect. When the item was new, it would take around 2 minutes. What's going on? Why is this so different than when I first brought the product home?

I recently purchased my second TomTom One - the first one worked without any problem at all and I never updated it at all however my new one I've been updating regularly and for some reason after my last update it stopped all connections to any satelites and I have not been able to get the connection back - I don't know how to reset it as the instructions don't seem to be that explicit and I am at a loss as to what to do other than contact them which from what I've seen is a waste of time.

The update usually fixes this problem if a reset has not worked

run tomtom home to update your tomtom one
if you dont have tomtom home, you can go here Tom Tom One slow to configure with satellite - 173935c.gif

Why does it take a long time for a satellite

Yes, sometimes it takes a long time to find a satellite, works best when it is fully charged, then it finds the Sats quickly

Font spend any more money on parts unless you know they are bad. Take the car to the shop that replaced your engine and have them check to see if they left a sensor or vacuum hose loose or disconnected. Even if it wasn't something they did they should be able to diagnose the problem.

TomTom slow and sometimes won't configure to satellite

All gps units do not do well trying to find a satellite on the move. You should let your unit locate satellites before you start moving.

TomTom One GPS fault

I had the same problem after downloading the latest maps, the unit was slow to boot up and would not find any satelites. I had no response from e-mails to Tom tom tech support and I was going to give up and buy a new device if this fix failed. I had tried paper clip resets and resetting to factory settings but they had not worked.

After reading the previous answer to this link I searched Tom tom support for 'clear flash' and the search results were more useful than the FAQ on the normal support pages.

I used Tom tom home to uninstall the current software application and then reinstalled the latest version (I had to go through several updates as my version of the software was from when I purchased the unit in 2007), I then downloaded and ran Clear flash and made sure that I disconnected the tom tom from my PC using the correct procedure (using the eject button in the bottom of the tom tom home screen as I read that this could have contributed to the problem in the first place).

After another reset the device came to life and after a few minutes searching for satelites outside the device worked as it should (try checking the configure GPS option if it is taking a while to find a signal, it could be just me but it seems to speed up the search process).

Hope this helps.

Pops up lime wire, curser won't work, extremely slow

Try downloading Avast Free version. I have had great success removing things infected from LimeWire with this software. When you download and get it set up, it will ask if you want to set up a boot scan. Say yes. Let the system re-boot and run. if something pops up it will pop up a window with a siren on it. move everything to the chest. Do not delete anything as it may be a system file that you delete. Lime wire is a haven for viruses. I would suggest getting rid of it.

I have a Nuvi 200w that I received last December as a gift. This unit takes forever to aquire a satellite. The "DIFFICULY AQUIRING SATELLITES" message comes on 90% of the times I try to use it....

While under warranty.... yes.... Make sure it's been registered on their site before calling them and requesting an RMA number.

Good luck!

No GPS Signal in TomTom One XL all of a sudden

I suddenly lost the GPS signal today and could not get it back. All I got was the "No valid GPS signal". My solution was to tap on the GPS satellite bars when in the route map. this brought up the "Status summary page of the TOMTOM.

I then again tapped the satellite bar which brought up the "GPS Status" page. I then tapped the bar labeled "configure".

The radio button next to the option titled "Minutes (dm.m') was selected. I then moved the selection to "Degrees (d.d) and it started working.

I had just downloaded the GPS fix 5 days ago so it is not like this suddenly caused it to stop working.

This may not work for everyone but this is what it took to get mine working.

Cheers

Slow connecting to the wireless network

Try downloading spybot defender and running it.
You probably have spyware preventing you to connect to your network.
Spybot defender is free too.
