Re: i have a 2wire 2701HG-B

I access my Gateway 2701HG-B via

I use the password that I first used to register with ATT
I also can access using the password of my alt nick which i use to get EMail via Winmail or Yahoo mail.

Access via gateway. last time i checked if you do not have a good signal the DSL lite will either blink red or be solid red.... only GREEN shows you have a good signal and sync.

I still sure the master password is the number on the bottom of the Gateway. Not the SN but the next set. (per my manual)

How to open port 5000 on 2wire gateway router

You will have to go to the routers web page and configure the port to be allowed to pass through. Go to or one of those and type in your password for the access if you did not change this it will be by default admin for username and password is admin I just type in the username admin and it opens you may have to do both username and password as admin. Once there go to port configurations and add 5000 as the port and check on both options for access.

Hope this gives you some idea on how to do this because each router is different in their page setups I cannot tell you exactly what the port configurations are but this will get you closer and others may post with further information for you so keep checking on this post. Or read help files when you arrive at the router site they are there look for port forwarding that is what you will be doing. Thanks for using FixYa! John

2wire 2701 block port 80

Go to the following link. This is just an example on how to forward ports for limewire. Use the same steps to forward port 80.

If it still doesnt work, try updading the firmware. In case this fails, then we have some issue with the router

Cant get to routers login screen

click on start click on run (if XP) or search (if vista) type "cmd" and hit enter u'll get a black window and in that type "ipconfig" and hit enter u'll get a list of numbers under "ethernet adapter local area connection" if its a wired connection or "wireless adapter local area connection" look for "deafault gateway" that's ur router's IP address, just type it in the address bar and bingo u'll be in ur router page.

Can I use 2WIRE 2701HG-B router in COX internet connection

No. A router has 2 main interface types WAN (for the internet connection side, and LAN (for the home network side) the 'LAN' side often has up to 4 ports and wireless connectivity for the home network.

The most common routers available at electronics retail use a CAT-5 connection for the WAN ports and the LAN ports. Your DSL modem/router uses a phone line input for it's WAN port, which uses a signal type that is incompatible with the cable modem output.

If COX doesn't offer a router with the cable modem package, you can go and purchase and common brand of home networking router, and attach it to the output of the cable modem.
