1. go to the manufacturer website download the flash bios update and then copy to a flash drive
2. Insert to the USB port on the connected mother board and install
3. this will be done in the DOS mode.
Instructions should be on the website.
Hope this helps.

If you wiped HD, why are you messing with bios? If it is not corrupted (bios), just use factory cd-s to restore the system (or re install the system, if restore is not possible).

Bios has been wiped and looking for a way to restore. It will not start keeps asking for a system disk I do not have

if you have wiped your bios, you need to replace the bios chip using this information gleaned from

Instructions on how to remove the BIOS chip are at the links below. I quote Jack Rowland of "Be sure to put the chip in the proper direction. Get it backwards and the chip is a gonner.
See and for removal and replacement instructions.
Be sure to discharge your CMOS before you boot up too. There should be a jumper
on the motherboard for doing that. If you can't find one you can pull the
battery and use a 10K resistor across the battery contacts on the
motherboard for about a minute.

How do I boot up an operating system after my hard drive has been wiped

If your hard drive has been wiped then it means you will need to re-install your operating system onto it. To do so follow these simple instructions:

Step 1) Press the Delete key as your PC boots up. This will take you to the BIOS.
Step 2) In the BIOS find the boot disk priority. Set priority 1 to your CD/DVD drive and set priority 2 to your hard drive.
Step 3) Save and exit the BIOS.
Step 4) Insert your operating system install disk into your CD/DVD drive.
Step 5) The installation should now start.

Optiplex GX280 will not boot past post

Worth a shot is to put the bios flash on floppy and see if you can get it to boot from that and if you are very lucky you may be able to re-flash.

If you did take a backup on the last attempt try to get that version of the bios back in first as that was a known good bios.
