Question about Sharp AR-507 Copier

Copy not straight

My copy is not straight when it comes out, even though my original is straight. I tried it on the glass and on the top feeder.

It does come out straight if I insert an 8 1/2x11 horizontially, but not vertically.

Try making sure your paper in the cassette is straight.

When pages come out of the copier the image is printed crooked. The paper comes out straight, so feed is correct. Image is just crooked? Why?

Does this happen when you using the document feeder?? Try placing the original document on the big glass see what happens might be you document feeder needs to be adjusted or the original document is hitting a obstruction in the path as it is being scanned. Does it print OK? Vise copy?

A white line runs across each copy.

IF the whit line stays in the same place on every copy all you need to do is clean the left side glass this is called the **** glass i guess you have a top feeder if you place an original on the glass then do a copy you will not get the white line
Also check the developer unit has an even coat on the roller this will also cause the issue you are having

When copying we are getting 2 lines down one side of the copies

Only when copying? What about printing? There are a couple possible causes. The easy one to check for is to make a copy by laying your original on the glass. Now make the same copy using the automatic feeder on top. If the feeder copy has the lines but the glass copy does not then the problem is coming from the ADF scanner glass which is the thin strip of glass that is just to the right of the large main glass. If so then just clean the strip of glass with a soft cloth and some glass cleaner. Note that sometimes the stuff that might be stuck to the glass is hard to get off. If BOTH the ADF copy and the main glass copy have the lines then most likely the lines are coming from the drum unit. If you have the copier hooked up for use as a PC printer then does the print from the computer have the lines as well? Then it most definately is coming from the drum unit and you would need to replace it. If the PC prints are clean then the drum is not the cause.

Clean your scanner glass strip. Just lift up the automatic document feeder and look at the large glass. Next to it is a small strip of glass enclosed in a plastic frame. Clean this glass with a soft cloth and some glass cleaner. This will fix your streaks problem as this strip of glass is what is used when you make copies using the feeder. You can verify this by making a copy by laying your original on the large glass. This will probably come out clean with no lines. This will be your proof that the lines are coming from the strip glass.

SCX 4826FN everything that goe in through the top feeder (scans, copies, faxes) comes out with a solid vertical black line on the paper. All other printing jobs that pull paper from the tray are ok. It...

This black line sounds like it is definately coming from the ADF scanner glass. This is the thinner strip of glass that is located just to the left of the large original glass. You can verify this by making a copy from the large glass instead of using the feeder on top. If the copy comes out clean then it is definately the scanner glass. Just clean the glass well with glass cleaner and a soft cloth. This glass is only used when copying/scanning using the top automatic feeder

We have a Workcentre pro 128 and when originals go through the feeder (not laid on the glass) they come out with a small line on the copies.

Take a piece of copy paper, and some alcohol or some glass cleaner.
Lift the document feeder and clean that 1 inch strip of glass on the right side. It may even be a mark on that glass you cant see.
But the copy paper and alcohol will create enough cleaning and firction to remove whatever is on there.
It just has to be a small dot of ink or dirt in the right spot on that glass.

Copying problem

check paper through paper cassette, then through bypass,if fault occurs on both, it is possible the registration roller area is possibly faulty.

There are other reasons for this relating to image formation, but please start with paper feed.

Black lines on copies when run thru fax feeder

There is a thin strip of glass that you will see when you lift the top feeder. There is most likely white-out on it.

When you use the top feeder, it doesn't use the large glass, it only 'rolls' the original document over this small strip of glass.

The small scanner glass (not the full size glass) has some dirt on it. Use a lint-free cloth (not paper) with alcohol or Windex and clean the glass. This should help.
