Well this would require you to open the bottom of this unit to access the lamp. Yes its a little labor intensive as one would think " I cannot get the darn thing open"

Expensive? Well if you find the lamp should not be that expensive $50 upwards and that is talking labor too. Lamps are under $15 bucks.

Lets be truthful here as I do not want to waste you time and possibly your cash "leave this to the experts if you want a good working unit afterwards" or better yet purchase new and add a few years to it. Replace old around 6 months maybe 1 year depending how much you scan.

Like my advice please Click accept and leave some type of feedback want more advice hit reply without a rating thanks its been such a pleasure emailing you I sure hope this advice works out for you as it did many hundreds of people i talk with monthly.

Once again My pleasure Good luck

parts? www.partstore.com if they do not have it I would suggest a local print store.

Mohammad,

Toshiba Satellite P100 screen Inverter replacement;

1) http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/Toshiba-Satellite-P105-P100/remove-lcd-screen-inverter-1.htm

(You can click on any photo to enlarge it. At the top, and bottom of the page are the page numbers. They are in white; Page1 :: Page2 :: Find another model )

2) Primer:
An LCD screen cannot produce light. It needs an additional light source.
A Backlight is the additional light source.

A Backlight (Present technology) is a CCFL, or a series of LED lights.
The Toshiba Satellite P100 series of Notebook PC's uses a CCFL.

Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp.
Similar to Fluorescent lighting used in homes, and businesses, but on a MUCH smaller scale.

Average size is approximately 2mm Thick, and the length is close to the height of the LCD screen. 2mm is a little larger than 1/16th of an inch.

This means the CCFL can be broken quite easily, as it is fragile. (You also DO NOT want to be cut by a Fluorescent lamp )

http://www.laptoprepair101.com/laptop/2007/12/09/replace-laptop-backlight-ccfl-lamp/

A screen Inverter converts the power from the laptop, for the Backlight, and LCD screen.

As previously stated in a Clarification, 90 PERCENT OF THE TIME the fault is the screen Inverter.

Hi! My mother in law has a problem with her Asus MM19SE monitor and I sit on the phone with her. When she starts the computer (equipped with XP), she can see the logon. When she inserts her password and...

llindfors61, Hi, 12fixlouie here. This monitor must be past it's 3 year warranty period. You or qualified "cold-cathode-fluorescent-lamp back-lit lcd monitor technician will need to replace some electrolytic filter capacitors that may have failed on the internal "switch-mode-power-supply" printed circuit board. Retrevo . com lists this unit as "time to retire" If you repair power supply, unit may function for 2-3 more years, but will need new cold-cathode-fluorescent-lamps installed at some future date when screen "white's" start to turn "faint pink" in color. Lots of video clips at YOUTUBE about replacing capacitors. Write back to me by aoing additional comment an rate this response after doing your research. 12fixlouie

"failure of "cold-cathode-fluorescent-lamp"

they can be repaired by an electronic tech but are cheaper buying a new one. The cost of new inverters range from 30-80$ USD. Viewsonics don't cost that much and now you can get 18.5 inch widw screen acer or other brand lcds for 89$.

i woudl really suggest just buying anew unit.

Sceptre display needs warm time to up stay stable. After about one min it is OK

grier_r, If unit is a LCD type and has fluorescent lamps supplying WHITE light so you can see all the pretty colors on the screen, you should NOT need to WAIT more than 2 to 3 seconds for unit to come "ON". IT needs to be investiated by a Electronics Technician to find out exactly what kind of problem it has with STARTING up the "cold-cathode-fluorescent-lamps" that provide WHITE light for the LCD panel.
I think you should go visit YOUTUBE and watch and learn from some of the longer video clips that deal with "LCD monitor disassembly" and LCD repair" . The 2 major failures of LCD's are poor soldering and Swollen (BAD) electrolytic filter capacitors. I also recommend www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm , www.lcdparts.net Hope this info is useful. Please rate this response on FIXYA. 12fixlouie
