Replacing Ink Cartridges Make sure you have a new ink cartridge before you begin. Caution: Do not open ink cartridge packages until you are ready to install the ink. Cartridges are vacuum packed to maintain reliability. Leave the expended cartridge installed until you have obtained a replacement, or the ink remaining in the print head nozzles may dry out. 1. Turn on the product. 2. If an ink cartridge is low or expended, you see a message on the LCD screen indicating which color to replace. Press OK.
If you're replacing a cartridge before you see a message on the LCD screen, press Setup, select Maintenance, then select Ink Cartridge Replacement. 3. Raise the scanner. 4. Open the cartridge cover. Then squeeze the tab on the cartridge and lift it up. Dispose of it carefully. Do not take the used cartridge apart or try to refill it. Warning: If ink gets on your hands, wash them thoroughly with soap and water. If ink gets into your eyes, flush them immediately with water. Keep ink cartridges out of the reach of children and don't drink the ink. 5. Before you open the new cartridge package, shake it gently four or five times. Then remove it from the package. 6. Remove the yellow tape from the bottom of the ink cartridge. Caution: Do not remove any other labels or seals, or ink will leak. Do not touch the green chip on the front of the cartridge. This can damage the ink cartridge.
One reason why it will not give you a full yellow bar in the Ink Levels is that the replacement cartridge used was a non HP cartridge. To resolve this issue all you have to do is to purchase an original HP cartridge from HP.
You can call HP's customer service which is 18004746836 and order the cartridges from them or go to HP's website which is hp.com.
HP currently offers Free next business day delivery for their cartridges and paper.
If you are using an HP cartridge and it's still not giving you a full bar on the Ink Levels don't hesitate to contact their customer service and if your printer is within warranty they will surely address your concern immediately.
Hope this helps
Hmmm, make sure it is properly fitting in there.... Take it out and put it back in.... Usually the printer performs some kind of "preparing the ink" operation... SO allow it to does this...... Make sure you are using genuine ink, sometimes printers won't accept non-genuine inks.... Hope this helps :)
The replacement cartridge may have a dried out print head, or there could be an air bubble in the ink cartridge preventing ink flow. The only thing you can really do at home is to press the bottom of the cartridge, the print head into a folded paper towel lightly moistened with warm distilled water. Be careful as the goal is to have ink soak out of the cartridge and could get on your hands. If the print head is in good shape you should see a foot print of the print head, a rectangle roughly the same size as the silver area on the cartridge. If not try a few more times. If still nothing the cartridge will need to be replaced. Cartridge World stores have equipment to prevent/repair these kinds of issues, so maybe you can give you closest one a call. :)
While waiting for more info from you, Look for these :
If you have bought a new cartridge: Make sure you purchased the right ink. Make sure you removed the tape covering the print head. Make sure you have installed the the cartridge correctly. Look for the expiration date, old cartridges dry out!
If you have had the cartridge in the printer for a long time the ink might have crusted on the print head take out the cartridge and rinse the print head under warm tap water for a minute or so. then dry the hole cartridge thoroughly with a paper cloth OBS! don't rub the print head too much! put the cartridge back in the printer. If it doesn't help, maybe it is time to get a new cartridge!
Happy fixing things! PLZ, Don't forget to rate! Bruce
Hi bormix_exoti. Sorry this is a rather late response to your query, it seems to have got lost! Often, refilling a cartridge is not successful, particularly if the sponge inside had dried out before refilling. The simplest way to solve this is to buy some new compatible cartridges from E-Bay, they are very cheap, and get your printer working properly. Then try your refilled cartridges again. When the cartridges are hanging about out of the printer, make sure the open orifices are covered with tape.
If replacing the cartridges with new ones doesn't solve your problem, come back with a new comment describing what you have done and I will provide further help.
Before taking out a new ink cartridge from its package, shake it four to five times.
Are you sure you have the proper ink replacement cartridge.The following Epson ink cartridges should be used in your device:
* Black: T0431 (high capacity cartridge)
or T0441 (standard capacity cartridge)
* Cyan: T0442
* Magenta: T0443
* Yellow: T0444
How did you discover the ink was low? Did the machine prompt you or was the printer not printing properly? The other colors should blend together to give you atleast some form of black. If the printer alerted you to change the cartridge...Go back through the procedure to install a new cartrige.
