Question about Amana AKS3040 Gas Cooktop

1 Answer

Short in knob

Model No. AKS30K, SN 9407186268. A pot of tea tipped over on the stove. The tea went under the knob and into the contact that controls the spark. The knob zapped several times as I tried to clean up the hot tea. Now that the stove has dried out the one knob will not start the spark although it does open the gas to the burner. Each of the other three knobs do cause a spark at each of the four burners at the same time. If this cooktop was better designed this would never have happened. There is absolutely nothing to prevent spilled liquid pouring into the electrical contact under the knobs. There should be a proper seal under the knob to keep this area watertight. This lack of a safety feature could have caused a serious accident with electric shock and burns. What do I do now with only three burners functioning. J.C.F.;

Control knob doesnt adjust flame height?

Use a manometer to insure lp gas pressure is correct. The regulator for the stove may need adjusting. The air mixture adjustment may not be correct for PL as well.

The left rear stove element went on High and would not turn off by controls, why? There was an F550 code that came earlier with the oven?

My range was doing the same thing. I finally called the Consumer Protection Agency and reported it. It launched a national recall. With their help, Frigidaire replaced my range. On Easter 2014, the new one did the same thing. Burner turned on by itself, to 8.5 with knob in the off position. We had to unplug it. Frigidaire once again did not care. I contacted the CPSA again - they are investigating. I will NEVER have another Frigidaire Range. Check your model number against the recall information. Don't trust it! It is a fire hazard.

Magic Chef Gas Stove Model CGC2536. 1. On just one of the 5 burners the"Lite" function doesn't work. On all the others you hear clicking, and the gas lights. But on one, no clicking at all....

Try Google your manufacture name model # and the word parts. This will not correct your lighting problem. It sounds like you have a igniter switch problem.

always unplug electricity before attempting to repair on any electrical appliance

MY wife boiled over her tea pot of water and now the pilots on all four burners continue to click as if you turn on the gas to light the stove.

The water has shorted out at least one of the igniter switches. Disconnect power to the unit and let it dry out for several hours and it should be just fine.

After cleaning the stove top the 4burners turned into continuous ignite mode

You probably got water under the cooktop while cleaning around the knobs. It causes a short at the 120 volt igniter switches on the shaft of each valve. Unplug the stove for 1 or 2 days and let it dry.

Just bought a house, no manuals

After a pot spillover, the cleanup process triggered my stove top to "control lock"

I removed the pot and once the stove top cooled I pressed and held the "control lock" button.

It began to blink, I released it and then the light went off and the stove top operated normally.

You might not have to wait for the stove top to cool. I don't know.
