My Laptop has been working on Wired and Wireless connections for a long time.
The Wireless connection stopped working after the old Router was replaced by a new Plug & Play Linksys Router.
The CD which came with the new Router had only the instructions to install the Router

The Wireless WEP Key for the New Router on my Laptop keeps getting erased, it keeps going back to the key for the old Router. Can someone help me in-- how to enter & keep the new key.

    Thanks a lot

    Thanks for your suggestion --

First, I did not install any software on my Laptop in question -- So I think I do not have to do a system restore/Uninstall.

-When I replaced my Wireless Router, the Screen of my dell 600m went Blue, now it works fine on a wired connection.

    - Also the other Desktops & and a different Laptop connect to the Internet very well thru the same secure wireless Router.

-So it cannot be the router, I think there is something in the wireless Card of this Oldish Laptop which is not letting me connect (??? And giving a Blue Screen in the wireless environment ) .

-Now the Security Key of the new wireless is a (Had to be) long or something like 26 alphabets/Numbers. The Old Security Network Key was something like 15 digit long.

-I am not able to enter the complete 26 digit Security Key of the NEW ROUTER as the spaces available are not as many on my Laptop. I think this needs to be fixed first & is possibly the only bottle neck for this whole problem.

-I have a USB Wireless Card(Which I use on the other well functioning Laptop) and tonight I will install the CD & plug in the USB Card into the problem Laptop, enter that 26 digit Key and hopefully the Laptop will light up(Connect) with the INTERNET.

Any other ideas/insights are welcome. Thanking you

OK guys, finally I got my Dell Laptop working in the safe mode. I changed the type of Key Input for the wireless network & thus needed to enter many less digits.

Let me explain again - My Laptop had stopped working(Although the rest of computers at home were working fine) when our Linkys Router for the wireless network was replaced by a more powerful Linkys Router to reach all the corners of the house.

Then I used a USB wireless adapter on the Laptop, entered the wireless key and now it is working only in the SAFE MODE.When I get out of the Safe mode, it is blue screen again

Now, I NEED HELP to get out of the safe mode to normal working mode. ANY TAKERS ??? Thanks & Warm Regards

Hello there:
what i would do first is uninstall anything that you have recently installed. and then see if it still does it if so i would go to and download it and use the free edition than scan the computer and it will find new drivers for the computer now simply go to the download section and you will see the old and new version now just click the tab next to the download and you will see your operating system now simply click on it and it will begin downloading ok? pretty easy i use it a lot and it has never failed me.
best regards michael

Hello there also if you can go to the system restore and go back to the point just before or around the time this occured you will be able so see what all has been installed like a update or somthing
if it not the router or any hardware
sometimes a update will cause these things to happen

There is a program or device that was recently installed that is interfering with the wireless adapter once you turn it on. Were you able to use the WiFi (wireless fidelity) of your laptop before? If you do and the problem just occurred after installing a device or program, you need to remember when that program/device was installed. You need to try uninstalling it to see if that causes the problem.

If you find it causing the problem, I would suggest to contact first the developer or manufacturer of that program/device to get a second opinion before re-installing it to the computer. It could be harmful to your computer.

Let me know if you have more questions.

Have a great day!

I'm sorry but I think you did not get what I want to explain. I'm not referring on the CD that came with the Linksys router. I'm referring with other program that you recently installed in your computer. As you said "When I use Dell Laptop Inspiron 600m on wireless - It turns to a blue screen" meaning that you tried to enable the wireless capability of your laptop, am I correct? After trying to enable or after trying to connect wirelessly, that's the time you get a blue screen. The problem has something to do with the computer and not with the Linksys router.

However, thank you for asking questions. Have a great day!

Ok, my dell inspiron mini will turn on, but after it does the dell thing in the begining, the screen just goes blue.

This happens because you might have installed some new software and hardware on your system.

Reboot your system and start typing F8 key
Check by selecting last known good configuration
If this does not work then boot the system in safe mode and try system restore and restore your system to backdate when it was working good.
You can also try removing some recently installed software or remove recent windows update.

Whats problem t he blue scree

Blue screen or BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) may be caused because of several reasons: recent hardware/software change, virus, memory card, conflict etc. When blue screen occurs it gives some STOP codes (e.g.,0x0000007E) which give us an idea what may be the reason behind it.

I have a Dell 1521 Laptop computer. The issue I have is when I Install my Cubase studio 4 or Cubase LE 4. It will Blue screen right away!! I have just recently down loaded the updated software for it. No...

oh yes ! it could have.

You should have observed that when you get a blue screen it says that some hardware or software change could have caused it. Thus when you installed the software there must have been some issues with the same. May be the company providing the s/w must have received similar complaints and the update could hav had files to prevent the blue screen.

The same happens with Microsoft as well. Some updates might cause blue screen which makes the system go crazy. Sometimes we might have to reinstall the OS as well.

Cheers !!! Your system is back to normal from the BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) !!!

that is a memory dump, try to remember what hardware or software did you install or uninstalled recently, if you can log-in on windows try uninstalling or reinstalling the hardware or the software. if it fails, run the windows recovery on the cd and repair the windows installation.
