Laptop wont't boot up

I have c640 and I bought a motherboard put it back together it booted up fine. I ran spyware removal and removed all of the spyware. Next I printed some things out it printed but afterwards the laptop hung up. I held the power button in to turn it off. When I tried turning it back on the power comes on and you can hear like it trying to boot but it wont turn on.

Re: Laptop wont't boot up

Won't boot- it depends how far it does boot- do you get the xp splash screen- or a black screen with a cursor? if it looks like it's trying see if you can get it to boot to safe mode F8. if it does- it might be a bad driver- usually video. If you don't even hear the hard drive cranking make sure it can see the hdd in the bios- if not you probably have a bad hard drive, or corruption on the drive, or possibly the wrong boot order.

Boot device not found

1) BIOS Setup states no harddrive found? Remove all power. AC adapter (Charger), and Battery. Remove Harddrive. Press Power On button in, hold in for 10 seconds, let go. Do this procedure 2 more times.
Reinstall Harddrive, and then Battery. Hook AC adapter again.
Harddrive recognized now?

You press the Power On button. This in turn presses against the Power On switch. The power is initialized. First chipset to receive power is the BIOS chipset. The Basic Input/Output System program is initialized. BIOS LOOKS TO SEE WHAT DEVICES ARE INSTALLED, does a Ram Memory count, and hands the computer over to the Operating System.

This is what I am basing the above on.

2) Not to knock sellers on Ebay, as I have found a few that are decent.
However the motherboard could be bad.
Harddrive controller could be bad.
Southbridge chip of motherboard chipset,

(CPU = Processor),

3) Don't E-slap me, but you were wearing an ESD wrist strap, with it's alligator clip attached to a good ground source; when replacing the motherboard, correct?

My T2300 wont boot up,I was trying to take a memory card out of the slot and the AC power outlet came out and the laptop came off. Now it wont boot up

Try removing the battery from the base. There is a sliding switch that will unlock it for easy removal.
make sure there is no power coming to the laptop.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.*This should drain static from the motherboard
plug JUST the power cord back in.*To prevent any battery issues messing everything up
Press the power button.
If it boots you can put the battery back in.
* On my posts, i will try to explain what everything does for people who want to know

Laptop keyboard doesnt work, extensa 5220 laptop . keyboard keys do nothing, boots up fine , and mouse functions fine, can get on facebook , but cant type anything.

Either something got spilled in it or the connection ribbon got jossled lose. The top power bezel should be in with clip snaps. Remove it then the keyboard should pop up after you lightly squeeze the sides in. Look under the keyboard there is a ribbon that connects with a lock snap. Lightly push the lock clip up and push the ribbon back in and snap the clip back on. Do not put it all together yet try booting it apart and try the keyboard. If it still doesnt work power down remove battery unplug it and finish removing the keyboard order u a new 1. They run around $20 brand new.

How can I force a cd boot on a toshiba satellte A135-S4477

You need to hit the function key on reboot that takes you to the BIOS settings. In the BIOS settings there will be an option to change the boot order. Make sure the CD is the first device to boot from. If the machine fails to boot from CD after this, then either the CD-ROM in the device is not a bootable CD ... or the drive may have issues.

Power cord was chewed by puppy..i spliced cord but laptop wont power up. is there a fuse or something that could have shorted?

These power cords are very sensitive and shielded. A bad power cord can have very serious effects and damage to the hardware of the laptop, especially the motherboard. They can be bought on E-bay and other sites for less than 30 a 300 dollar motherboard bill.

Dell latitude c640 laptop

This could be caused by a number of thing, bad battery, bad power supply, bad memory chip, bad processor, and a bad component on the motherboard. Start by checking the output of the power supply with an ohm meter. The output rating will be on the power supply or you can go by the input in the machine. Then try starting without the battery. Then remove the memory and try with one chip then the other. At this point, if the problem persists, you will need to take it for a professional diagnosis. They will be able to test the processor and motherboard to find the exact problem component, and tell you whether it's replaceable.

EVO ! wont boot

If the RAM is fine, but it's turning itself off after 10 seconds or so, then it's highly likely the motherboard needs replaced. What I would suggest, if you are comfortable doing it however, is to check the fan isn't simply clogged up (this will determine whether it is a problem with the motherboard itself, or simply a problem with the fan overheating, and the motherboard turning off as a fail-safe). Bear in mind, this will require stripping the laptop down, and should only be done if you can put it back together properly.

Laptop will not boot up c640

What program told you to hit F1 to remove spyware? I'm wondering if the machine is virused or spyware'd up to the hilt...
Check the boot order in the Bios- make sure you can see the hard drive in there - if not try reseating the hard drive and check the black interface bar on the end of the hard drive. It's possible the drive got corrupted when you did a power off too. Provided you can see the drive in the bios- boot to the xp- cd using the F12 on bootup- and go to recovery console- type in chkdsk /r and repair the disk errors. This works about 35-45% of the time. There are other recovery commands you can try too- but you need the xp cd to try them. Hope that helps. If you can't see the hard drive in the bios- try another drive you know is good, or put the 2.5 inch drive on a usb external interface and check if you can "see" it on another computer.
