Hi,
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US.
click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

If it is wireless you will have to push the connect button on the wireless receiver after installing batteries even if the lights on receiver are on other wise your computer will not reconize it but you will get message that the item is working properly.

no spare parts from logitech. you may have to try craigslist or ebay. logitech may take as a warranty replacement but you will have to send back the keyboard and so get a spare keyboard and mouse if that is the route you plan to go.

Hello.

From Logitech support:

The time and date on your MX 5000 keyboard display (LCD) is set automatically using the clock settings of your computer.
If the time or date is incorrect, you will need to adjust your computer's time and date settings. To set the clock on your computer, follow the instructions below for your operating system:

Setting time and date in Windows XP

  1. Click Start, click Run, type "timedate.cpl", and then click OK.
  2. Adjust the time and date in the control panel
  3. Click on Apply, then OK
  4. The updated time should be shown on your MX 5000 keyboard within a few seconds
Setting time and date in Windows Vista
  1. Click the Start button , click on the Control Panel, click on Clock, Language, and Region, and then click on Date and Time.
  2. Click the Date and Time tab, and then click Change date and time. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
  3. Adjust the time and date in the control panel
  4. When you have finished changing the time settings, click OK.
  5. The updated time should be shown on your MX 5000 keyboard within a few seconds
NOTE: This feature requires that Logitech's Mouse and Keyboard software (SetPoint) be installed on your computer.

If you don't have a copy of the software, try:

Hope this resolves your problem.

My LogiTech MX5500 keyboard keeps beeping me. Every time I get a new e mail maybe. How do I shut off the beep?

Yes, highly annoying. If you open the Setpoint software (mine was foldered under Programs/Logitech/Mouse and Keyboard), pick the My Keyboard option, go to the hammer and screwdriver icon on the left side, and deselect the box "play a sound" under "When I receive a new email."

mcdevito75 here, Sounds like you"ve lost the connection between your keyboard and reciever, that little angled piece with a button you press and lights up. First double check connection on your computer for this reciever, Then double check intsatlation of batteries in keyboard. NOW, press button on reciever, now press button under mouse and wait 20 seconds now press button on reciever then press button under keyboard. This should do it.

You might need batteries. Manufacturer-supplied batteries are frequently low quality. So, try that.

Keys stop working

Sorry to inform you but the keyboard needs repair. I've been a wireless keyboards and mice user for years. I've been to this problem before. First I thought it was just the battery or the wireless dongle, until I sent the keyboard to the manufacturer for repair.

I would suggest to contact the manufacturer for repair if the keyboard is still under the warranty.

Have a great day!
