Open the back panel of Archos with a tiny screwdriver. There are two screws on the bottom and one on the side. Remove these and the back pops right off.
You will see the battery sitting on top of hard drive. If you remove the hard drive you will notice the battery is soldered right on to the hard drive. You don't need to do this though.
Clip the black and red wire to remove the old battery. Clip towards the top of the battery to leave plenty of wiring to work with.
With a wire cutter, strip a small amount of tubing from the ends of both wires.
Join the wiring of the new battery (which can be found online for under $20, including shipping) to the wiring of the old one by twisting the ends together.

it started when i was transferring music to it.It was doing fine then it turned into system error where the screen was white. I tried solving that problem but it just got worse. Now it doesn't start up. I turn it on it just stays at the Philips screen and at the bottom it says "www.philips.com/welcome". I tried resetting it but it doesn't work. I connected it to the computer to attempt to solve it but it jsut stays at that screen. so i do not know what to do, either its fixable or i should return it.
