Question about V, Inc. Vizio P50HD Plasma Television
I have had my vizio tv for about 9 months now, within about three months of watching the tv, it would flicker for about 2-3 minutes and then it would correct, or i could adjust the screen settings and fix it myself... But within this last six months it has gotten worse. Now it always flickers for a few minutes when i start it up and it has a little blue line on the top left side of my screen that is always there and the screen randomly blinks like camera flashes... i am aware of the life span of my particular tv and i am now out of warranty. I only watch about 3-6 hours a day if that... according to specs, it should last "22" years... Please at least tell me whats going on or if i should sart saving it again...
Those blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.
If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.
Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device, in the "Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts.

I had the same problem on certain channels. Some black squares would appear int the lower right area of the screen. I believe it is now corrected.
It looks like a may have had a close caption option on. I think it was CC3. Turn CC to off. This should correct the problem.

Once minute my Vizio P50HDM was working the next minute the picture was barely visible. I called Vizio and they gave me a number for a repair company. Their company gave me a $650 estimate. I called a few other local placed and they said that this is a very common problem for this model TV. All the places gave me an estimate of between $600 - $700. I called Vizio to complain, but they are not interested.

this could be one of two problem. first, check if you have back light. If you do then the problem is with the M/B. Second, if you don't have back light then the inverter is bad and needs to be replace.

I had this exact problem on my Vizio 47" HDTV. I removed the speakers and all the screws on the back cover. Took the cover off and located the fuses on the largest circuit board. The are in the upper right hand corner of the board. There are 3 of them in a row labeled LF 1.5, LF 3.0 and LF 3.0. The are white in color with copper ends. I took a volt meter and measured continuity across all fuses individually and found the LF 1.5 to be blown. The guy at the electronics store sold me a barrel 1.5A fuse and told me to soldier it across the top of the blown fuse. It took an extra set of hands but the TV works perfectly.
