THE SCREEN IS BLACK AND WHENEVER I TAKE A PICTURE IT IS BLACK, THERE IS NO PICTURE AGAIN ON THE SCREEN WHAT CAN I DO TO BRING THE PICTURE BACK MY CANON PowerShot A60

Hi there:
An CCD problem would explain the black or lines on your pictures and the lines on the LCD (since the CCD is used to feed the live image). CCD (Charge Coupled Device) is one of the two main types of image sensors used in digital cameras.

Some symptoms of a defective CCD include distorted images or abnormal colors, scratchy purple lines, blank or black pictures, and/or black videos with good sound being recorded on the camera's flash card.

When a picture is taken, the CCD is struck by light coming through the camera's lens. Each of the thousands or millions of tiny pixels that make up the CCD convert this light into electrons. The number of electrons, usually described as the pixel's accumulated charge, is measured, then converted to a digital value. This last step occurs outside the CCD, in a camera component called an analog-to-digital converter.

In order to correct this issue, the repair facility needs to replace the CCD. This is not something you may do on your own; check this article for additional details: Bad CCDs. This, isn't a good new, but hope helps to solve it.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

I can view colors in my screen but whenever I take pictures they are completely black even in daytime or with the flash on. I already tried the option where the screen in black on porpoise but it's not...

Hi,

The black screen problem means the lens sensor is spoiled due to over exposure to heat. Its better to give it to Sony service centre. If your camera is under warranty period its well and good they will replace the lens sensor for free of cost.

Thank you

Whenever i want to take a picture the screen reamins black

A stuck shutter is a common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open).

To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see the following for further info and a simple fix that may help:

I can't upload pictures from my Sony DSC-S650.

Goto any radio shack and get a external memory card reader this will allow you to get your pictures if the camera or cable is defective.

Film is not developing

It's hard to tell without looking at the film itself, and it would help to know what type of film you are using (black and white? color?). My guess would be a light leak. If the film is exposed to any light, that results in a black picture, possibly blotches of color. Either you opened the camera before you rolled the film back into the canister (unlikely), or your camera is responsible for the light leak, in which case, you will have to bring it to a repair shop.
