Sounds like the needle valve is not closing off the flow of gas to the carburetor. Maybe a bad float, or the needle and seat need to be replaced.
Sounds like a carburetor rebuild is in order.

Gas is leaking after I put gas in. It looks like the fuels lines are in. Does the filter attach to the gas lines? I don't see an air filter on my 536-77240000 craftman edger.

If you just replaced the lines, alot of times the lines outerm diameter is not correct, causing leaks...other times its the gas cap itself, However, there shouldn't be any hole under a gas tank... at least not where any air filter would be close by..

Gas spits back if I pump too fast, and the check engine light is on --maybe a vent is clogged--Help!

GASOLINE in the air filter is a serious fuel injection problem....to be honest....I have never heard of such a problem...air goes through the filter into the cylinder where it mixes with gas....to have gas spit back into the air filter.......exhaust valve stuck? Maybe intake manifold is leaking? Gas from the tank goes straight into the cylinder via the fuel injection hose...how does it get into the air filter is really a problem. .

Rich condition no codes

Could be a number of things: a vacuum leak: check your hoses for proper routing and no leaks from cracked, brittle rubber. Check your intake manifold where it mates to block for an air leak (if you have an air leak-vacuum leak, your computer compensates by spraying more gas.)
Could be an injector is leaking gas into a cylinder, or not operating properly.
Is your air filter clean? A tune-up (plugs, wires, air filter, fuel filter) may fix the problem.
Another possibility is a tired oxygen sensor.
Good luck.

19e412-0134-01 won't start. gas leaks out air

The float is stuck on the carb flooding the engine and leaking gas out of air filter. Remove the float bowl after the gas is turned of or drained. Thoroughly clean carb And bowl with carb cleaner. Reove the float {very carefully} if it is copper, shake it. If you here fuel in it then it is no good. If not then clean everything and reassemble. If it needs to be replaced, most small engine repair shops will have your parts.

Gas leaking out the air filter

If you are leaking gas out of the air filter then there is a leak in the fuel system that is letting fuel get by the seals and into the air cleaner.

At the gas filter? Air filter? Is it a Brigg's? If it is the gas filter, are there clamps that need tightening> Is it the right filter? The hose size is most important. If it is the air filter and it is gushing out, then you have a stuck float in the carb. Hope this gives you some ideas.

Craftsman Edger 536-797520 is leaking gas from the air filter

The needle valve is sticking open. The carb needs cleaning and diaphragm replaced. Probably best taken to a shop unless you have experience with diaphragm carburetors. Dwain
