First of all unplug the refrig.

look at the bottom of the disp cover and you will find 2 slots for you to slide in a flat tip screw driver. carefully pry the bottom of the cover loose 1 side at a time.once this is loose, either remove the 2 screws that hold the switch housing in place or release the clips ( depends exactly onwhich model you as to wether there are clips or screws) once this is free remove the plastic funnel, by this point you should see how the chute door removes.

a few notes the disp cover can be hard to remove but it will come loose also reinstalling just hit it firmly over each clip witht he palm of your hand.

good luck..

Kenmore Elite side by side - Icemaker chute freezes up, no ice

Hi,

To make sure I am understanding you correctly, are you saying that after a normal fill, water continues to drip into the ice maker and freezes in the fill chute?? If yes, than replace the water valve.

If not then:

does the flap shut all the way? Sounds like you are drawing moisture from the chute. The flapper should seat so that no air is being drawn in. I have seen a number of these Kenmore where the pin and spring retainer has broken off from the dispensor housing causing this problem. They use to replace the whole freezer door because the dispensor housing is not a servicable part. They have now come out with a kit to address this problem. This is not a fun job for a first timer. You may want to contact Kenmore and inquire about the aforementioned. If this is your case, there is a good chance they will cover it.

Goodluck,

HI.The one that you actually saw is the gasket/socket capable of closing the door automatically. Now you have to remove the covers to actually access the b olts where actually what you've been seeing.Loosen the bolts to take out the rod that holds the door.Rplace this with a new one and have the bolt tighten until you get a good seal.

Kenmore fridge106.56546400, icemaker shute leaks

Most likely the chute is not closing all the way. Warm air enters and melts some ice and drips. You'll eventually get a frost buildup there if not already. Order a ice door kit. Get a flashlight and look at the chute door real good for a partial closure for verification.

Ice chute frosts up??

This is caused by a rusted plunger and solenoid . To replace them ( in a kit pt # WR62X10055 ) , remove the top plastic hinge cover of the freezer door , and disconnect the plug there . This removes power to the door . Use a small screwdriver or butter knife , under the dispenser control panel , and pry outward . Disconnect the 3 plugs . Remove the 4 screws on each corner of the white dispenser switch body , and slide foreward . The solenoid and plunger are at the top right , held on by 3 screws . Replace with the kit . Cleaning the plunger will not help . The kit needs to be replaced . ( note .. when reinstalling the white switch holder , it slides back in , on a slight track , so the dispenser board will pop back in flush . When re-installing the dispenser board , put the top in first , then pop the bottom back in place ) . Don't forget to plug the door back in .

The flap on the ice despenser is not closing and water is forming in the pan below. Is there an scamatic of the door ice maker despenser?

If you can look up and see the flap is loose or sloppy, you need one of these two kits. Kit # 8201649 is the chute door, door bracket, spring, damper pot.
Kit # 8201756 contains all the above plus a metal bracket designed to replace the housing bracket, the door pivot pin and a metal brace.

I have a ED5JHEXTS side by side and the door to the ice outlet does not close completely allowing ice buildup at this location. How do I fix this?

Your dispenser has a plunger that retracts the ice door after you have activated it and a spring to slow the door down so it does not trap any ice between the door and chute. Its probable that the plunger just came off the ice door actuator but there are several component defects that can this whirlpool has designed a kit that includes most of the probable defective parts pn 8201649

0d13d06.jpg without proper diagnosis its hard to tell wich component has failed but guaranteed its one of the components pictured if you were to purchase both the kit and the bracket total part cost would be approximately $75
