Question about Canon Digital Rebel / EOS-300D Digital Camera with EF-S 18-55mm Lens
The LCD does not seem to be working correctly. It seems to work and not work at the same time.
When I take a picture, it WILL show that picture immediately after it is taken.
When I press the menu button, the menu screen WILL NOT appear. Likewise, when I hit the play button, it will not show the pictures that I have taken.
Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Thanks for that link, I will keep it handy! Be careful however, because the exact same symptom can be caused by a stuck shutter. To tell if it is a stuck shutter follow these steps: 1. Turn off the flash!! 2. Look down into the lens. 3. Take a picture. Did you see anything change? The opening at the center should be momentarily covered by a matte black shield. If you take a picture and see no change inside the lens then the shutter is stuck closed or open. If Canon finds your shutter to be stuck and not a CCD failure, the repair will not be free.. very not free. David Millier Advance Camera Repair

I have a power shot A70 camera. If you call technical support they are fixing the black screen issue free of charge including shipping and insurance. They are calling it a ccd issue with the power shot cameras.

The Display button manually turns the LCD display on or off to save batteries. If you accidentally had turned the LCD off, It should only take one press of the button to turn it back on and leave it that way. As such, it's not you but the camera. The A570 IS is relatively new. Your camera is likely still under warranty. If so, contact Canon for warranty repair (see the following link):

get out your manual and find out how to do a reset. Then read the manual. if you can't do a reset take it back to the dealer you bought it from.

its actually probably the display. there is 3 different displays. 1. shows picture with icons 2. shows just the picture and 3. is a solid black screen. just hit the display button to cycle through until your desired display is present
