Can't get past the ''Building Database'' screen

Every time I load new songs on the my Opal M4304-A Mp3 player, when I try and turn it on once I've disconnected it from my computer, it (my player) will not proceed past the ''Building Database'' screen.

This happen once before and it magically started working again- don't know why or how. But it seems to be broken for real this time. Would love to get it working again. Don't want to wast the 50$ I spent on it. Let me know if anyone figures out how to fix this problem. Seems to be a common.

My e-mail if anyone figures out how to fix it:

What you need to do is back everything up and go to the manufactures website and download the firmware and reflash your player. that way it will go back to the way it was when you bought it and should work.

My m4304 mp3 player reads building database

I see a lot of people are having this problem. I received mine a few days ago as a gift and had this same problem. First, go to the RCA website and follow the instructions to re-install the player's firmware. Then, disconnect your player and turn it on once the install is complete. When you get to the main screen that allows you to browse through your folders and settings, turn your power save function off in the settings folder. This will save you a lot of frustration in the future.

When you begin loading music, use Windows Media Player instead of the software that comes with the player. Also, upload a few songs at a time. I tried to upload 3GB of music at once and had to start this entire process over. I would load around 50-75 songs, disconnect it, turn it on, let it build the database, then turn it off and do it again.

Hope this helps!!

Here is the link to re-install the firmware:

The rca easy rip says player isnt conected???

I had the same problem. I was able to get my new music on mine through my windows media player, then able to sync it on to my RCA MP3. I am not very good with technology but it worked for me. I guess the media player is my default program.

M4304 mp3 player building database then cuts off

I'm not sure if this is the correct thing to do, but it worked for mine. First, go to the RCA website and follow the instructions to update the firmware on your player. Second, disconnect the player from your computer when the install is complete. Then, turn your player on. Once the screen comes up that allows you to go through your folders and settings, turn it back off and re-connect it to your computer and upload your music. I tried to upload 3 GB of music at once and had to redo this process. So now I just upload a little music at a time.

Also, I found it is better to load your player with music through Windows Media Player than to use the software that comes with the player.

Can't add songs to the mp3 player

First, go to my computer and scroll down to devices with removable storage, then look for you mp3 player, click on it, enter it's file system, and find where it keeps mp3's, then just copy and paste, it bypasses the software. If that does not work, try uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers and program, then try it again. That is a model number
