Question about Akai PT4298HD Rear Projection Television
My AKAI PT5492 rear projection TV has been working fine since 2001 and yesterday, without warning, it would not turn on. The timer light did go on and will now not go off. In addition, there is a clicking sound every few seconds. I unplugged the unit until I can determine what to do. Thanks- -Fred

This could be one of many different issues. Main flaw with these units are as follows:
Blue picture tube leaks coolant onto neck board and mainboard causing problems.

check for popped or raised tops on caps in power supply. also try unplugging set for 5 minutes and resetting it. How about does your color wheel spin up? if your color wheel don't startup then your tv will also shut down. also check all fans they all should be running at turn on. if all fails i would say its your light engine.
