Check the battery contacts are clean and not corroded, apart from that you have covered the most obvious cause. Probably need to be sent off for repair.
I might be interested in this if you decide to sell.

Won't turn on

Ric DonatoSorry to hear that with fresh batteries it will not turn on. If it used to turn on, then now there is something wrong with the flash. Other than using different batteries, making sure they are in the correct order, and still it does not flash it will need to go to Nikon repair. Yes, I would not want to hear that answer, but that may be the only solution.

I have the Casio Exilim cell phone, and everytime I press 'End' to end a phone call, the flash for the camera comes on. I have to press the 'Send' button to make the flash turn off. I've tried turning off...

Remove and replace battery. Not a new battery just take it out and put it back in. It stopped the flash from coming on at "end call" for me but I suspect the problem will re-occur when some alteration of flash mode is attempted.

My camera wont stay on after i turn it on

Hi. It can be a problem with flash capacitor. To check if it is the case you should be able to power your camera at least for 10 seconds. If you can not power your camera for this time from batteries, try to use external DC 7.4V 2A power supply. After powering your camera just follow this procedure. 1. Turn on the camera. 2. Turn off the flash by pressing flash button (be sure that flash is OFF but not in AUTO regime). 3. Turn off the camera. 4. Turn on the camera. If after these operations camera can be powered from batteries and you can make pictures than the problem is in the flash capacitor which should be replaced. Or you still can make pictures with your camera without using a flash.

Flash use "kills battery dead"

The most likely culprit is a several year old battery that is not accepting or holding a sufficient charge. Turning the camera on, and taking a non-flash photo may not tax the battery too much. However, when the flash is called for, the power demand may exceed the battery's ability to deliver enough juice. A new(er) battery is probably your best bet to resolve the problem.

Red light continually flashes, and won't take picture

Set the camera to anything except no flash. Turn it off. Take out the battery. Wait 5-10 seconds. Put the battery back in. The flash should now work until you turn the camera off again (and then you must remove/replace the battery to get the flash working again).

The flash requires some kind of "master reset" to work. Haven't found a permanent solution to this.

FLASH WONT TURN ON

You can try cleaning the terminals in the battery compartment with a pencil eraser (a good idea in any case). Otherwise, I suspect hidden damage or fault. If not an expensive unit, replace it.
