The power for that stat comes from the furnace - if you have no display on the stat you have a furnace problem

How do you change battery on honeywell thermostat

first of all it is not a battery according to a HW tech., it is a capacitor that charges or stays charged by the current coming from the transformer on the boiler or furnace or on an a/c,etc...I know. it's an energizer # 2025 or sumptin' like that.That's if we're talking about a T87N or T87K, otherwise just pop open the lid and replace yer' batteries!

Hi! We have a really old williamson thermostat (not sure about the model but it says t87fi89i 2 8047 [dont know if it's i or 1 either]). We want to replace it with a honeywell t87n east-to-see thermostat....

On most applications for heating the red and white wires are used,however I would check what wires are connected to terminals on old thermostat. These connectons should be labled with initial of wire color,such as R,W,G,Y or Rc. If your green wire is hooked to R or whatever just hook new thermostat up like the old one and you should be ok. Hope this helps. Thanks.

How do you wire a honeywell round mechanical thermostat

What are you trying to wire up?
Typical Thermostat Wiring for 4 or 5 wire Heat/Cool Thermostat (not heat pumps)
4 Wire Termostat
R = Red One Side of 24 volt Transformer
G = Green Blower
Y = Yellow Cool
W = White Heat
5 Wire Thermostat
with one transformer for both units
Rc One Side of 24 volt Transformer
Rh Jumper Rc to Rh
G = Green Blower
Y = Yellow Cool
W = White Heat
5 Wire Thermostat
With 2 transformers one for indoor unit
And one for outdoor unit
Rc = Red One Side of (outside) 24 volt (outside transformer)
G = Green Blower (outside transformer)
Y = Yellow Cool (outside transformer)
Rh = Blue One side of (inside) 24 volt (inside transformer)
W = White Heat (inside transformer)
COOLING ONLY Thermostat
R = Red One Side of 24 volt Transformer
G = Green Blower
Y = Yellow Cool
HEATING ONLY
R or Rh One Side of 24 volt Transformer
W = White Heat

My honeywell t87n is adjusting the heat setting by

This sometimes happens over time with some digital thermostats. The easiest solution is get a toothpick and hit the reset button. From there just set it as you normally would. That should solve your problem.

Hope this info was helpful to you. Good Luck!

Replaced mercury thermostat w/Honeywell CT87K - doesn't work!

You need a specific thermostat for a Wall Furnace it is a Millivolt Thermostat and not a 24v standard thermostat....usually it will work anyway however if the powerpile (generator produces millivolts from the pilot light) is weak it may not be producing enough...or the Pilot light may be dirty and lazy...won't produce enough millivolts ...or you can have bad or dirty contacts or connections....or a combination of any of the above.....a 24v Thermostat and particularly a non-mercury thermostat has too much resistance in it for a millivolt system....as your Wall Furnace (other than the fan) runs on less than 1 volt

Wiring in a new thermostat

On the usual 24v gas heat and cool system, the red is the 24v, or power from the transformer, the white is the heat, the green is the fan (the ON setting on the thermostat not the auto) and the cool is either yellow or blue. You can connect the red to rh or rc, if the new thermostat has this, just put a jumper wire between them. If your new thermostat has a c and o connections, you may have the wrong type.

Honeywell T86A3006 24V Class 2 Round thermostat 8020

The honeywell tradeline thermostat would work as a direct replacement (no mercury in the new ones), however if your using just heaters and no cooling system off of it, you could Heat only thermostat from honeywell that would replace your unit as well. Both at available at Ace Hardware with the heat only unity being roughly 7 dollars cheaper.
