What can I try next?

Get two short extension cords and cut the FEMALE end off each one. Strip back the insulation on that end. Connect the two green wires to each other, and connect the two white wires to each other.

Connect one black wire to a light switch, and connect the other black wire to a 20W appliance-type incandescent light bulb. Also run one short black wire (from a cut-off end) from the second terminal on the light bulb to the second terminal on the switch, like so:

plug -- black -- switch -- black -- bulb -- black -- plug
plug -- white ----------------------------------- white -- plug
plug -- green ---------------------------------- green -- plug

Turn the switch to the OFF position.
Start the generator. Plug one plug from your new rig into an outlet on the generator. Plug the other plug from your new rig into a wall outlet supplying 120V. With the generator running, turn the switch to the ON position.

The bulb should flash for a short while, then become steady. When it's steady, that side of the generator is flashed. Repeat for the other side of the generator if it makes 240V.

Generator running but no powerout put

I would check the fuses to see if you've blown any of them. Make sure to shut the generator off and unplug all the devices from it before testing. If one of the fuses are blown, replace it with one you're not using and plug fewer things into the generator.

Porter Cable BSI550 W 5,500 Watt Generator With 10 Hp Engine No AC output

Sounds like the generator unit (sometimes called the generator head) has overheated and melted the insulation in the windings. This is the same as an electric motor "burning out", and if this is the case, then the generator is toast. If you happened to notice that the lights or fans were getting dim or slowing down before the breaker tripped (without the gas engine slowing down) then this is most likely the case and you generator is toast. But if the output just suddenly quit, then it is possible that some smaller electrical component has failed. In any case, it's not something external that you can easily reset or replace. Sorry for the bad news.

WHEN IT IS PUT UNDER A LOAD IT WILL NOT STAY RUNNING UNLESS YOU LEAVE THE CHOKE ON

Possible that the engine is not getting sufficient fuel for running and so the choke action is needed. You need to check if the oil switch is cutting off the power, - if so replace oil.
Secondly the fuel settings might need a check up. You might need to clean/reset the plugs/spark gaps and also overhaul the carburator to solve this issue.

My coleman powermate 6250 generator just stopped producing electricity. It was running all day. Motor still runs just no juice.

check the reset-- if power to reset line, switch bad if no power -check feed out from generator if no out put then possible internal problem --winding or short

How do you get the contact tips together so that they work. It is a 6610 wiggy tester.

To check your meter for continuity, put settings on dial to the Ohm setting. Touch the 2 tips together & if it is operating properly, the needle will spike. Then you can check a circuit on a wire using both tips to touch (black) wire & (white) wire.

My generator run roughly and will not put out any electricity

Try getting a rebuild kit for the carb. Also change the spark plug. I know you cleaned the carb, but sometimes you will need to change the gaskets and filters in the carb.

No power out put

After checking all connections check for power from the end of the alternator. if there is no power it is either the diodes in the end of the alternators rotor or the capacitor has blown ( round barrel shaped device with four prongs on ) When changing capacitor make sure you get the correct size mesured in micro farads.
