Question about Xerox Phaser 6125 Laser Printer

Open Question

I believe my phaser 6130 needs a new imaging unit, but I can't seem to locate one --even from Xerox. If I can't find one quickly, I will return the unit to Costco, but we have really enjoyed it, so I hope it won't come to that. Please help.

If you get the "invalid cartridge" message, try completely turning off and unplugging the unit. Then remove the cartridge, close the door and after at least 30 seconds, restart the unit. Then reinstall the cartridge. This worked for me!

Says we need a new imaging unit, is there a way to trouble shoot before ordering??


The imaging unit has a CRUM which records usage. It has a life span of approximately 30,000 prints based on an average 5% coverage, so it is possible for one to become end of life at 5,000 prints or less if it has been used for heavy coverage.
Unfortunately the imaging unit is not re-settable but in my experience the Phaser 6125/6130 units are prone to giving print quality issues so it is advisable to replace it if showing end of life.

I have a Phaser 6130 that worked fine for a few months but now it only works as black & white. All colors are faded or just plain wrong. Can't find a reset that works and xerox tech emailed that I...


Possible solutions are, low toner or imaging unit. Try running the toner refresh routine from 'Admin Menu'. You will have to run each colours routine a few times, if this shows an improvement, the problem was with toner starvation, be careful not to over refresh as this could give you background problems.
If the refresh does not work, it is possible your laser windows are dirty (but not very likely). You will need a cotton bud to clean them. Remove the imaging unit and behind that you will see slits in the rear chassis moulding, gently rub the cotton bud along them.
If this still fails, it it is likely to be the imaging unit, though it could be the laser assembly or high voltage power supply or connecters.

My xerox Phaser 6130 is noisy and makes light copies. How do I lubricate it? Will this solve the problem?


The 6130 is not designed to be lubricated, but if you feel the need to lubricate gears, then use white lithium grease. I am not sure the nature of your noise. Loud rattling or repeating ticks could indicate damaged gears, and lubrication won't help that.
Often the Image Unit causes noise and bad print quality. Try replacing that first, PN 675K69244.
