Canon Pixma MP160 "Head ID Error" when try to print.
I have a Canon PIXMA Printer Model: MP160. The problem is the following: If I turn on the printer and wait until he fully started up I get 2 LEDs lightning and the digit display, too. The LEDs, which blink, are (b) and (c) and on the digit display I get "E" on the 1st flash and "5" on a second flash. I tried printing on my Ubuntu box (9.04), with a driver FUNCTIONING 100%, (http://turboprint.de using the latest version) but the program gives me a "Head ID Error" and it doesn't print. I don't know what this means exactly. I gave a pretty detailed description of my problem. I hope for some help, please.

Hi there maximum time we found it is a the head problem. The print head is what the cartridges sit in inside of the printer. For resolve the problem please follow these.
Open the printer and wait for the carriage to slide over. Some how if its not come then Unplug the printer & Manually slide the carriage.
Now Remove the ink cartridges from the print head & Use wet warm cotton swab or use alcohol to thoroughly clean the print head.
Repeat this until there is no ink residue coming off on the cotton swab. After finished it make the head dry then fix it back. Now Try to print something now
If that does not work then follow the next step.
Remove the printer data cable & restart the PC & printer. Then fit back the data cable & turn on the printer. Hope that's start working , if no luck then Uninstall the printer driver & restart the PC & Printer both again. Now install the driver of the printer and connect it with PC ,Turn on printer & go for a test print from the printer preference. Thanks & waiting for your reply.
E5 error code occurs in certain models of Canon Pixma printers such as the Canon MP160 and Canon MP150, you may receive an E5 error when trying to print. In this state, you will not be able to use any of the functions of your printer. The error itself is an ink cartridge error. It may be that you are using generic or off-brand ink cartridges in your Canon Pixma printer. Canon Pixma printers do not work with other brands of print cartridges; invest in Canon brand ink cartridges and this should take care of your problem.
