LG Refrig. LEAKING blue 5/16th tubing !!

On the back of my LG side by side frig. there are two blue water lines. One is 1/4 inch and the other is 5/16th inch. The 5/16 line needs to be replaced due to a pin-hole leak. Do I need to replace it with the exact type of tubing material or can I use another type as no one in the Salt lake City area has the right tubing, even the "authorized" LG repair place in the city. It's "not" a high pressure line but as of yet I haven't looked deep into the back of my frig to see if I can do it or if the incompetant Repair man should do it. He seems as lost as I am but I'm willing to try. Thanks for your time.Bob

SOURCE: Replace Ice maker tubing LG Armoire refrig

Normally I would change the entire tube, but if you like you can take a sample of the tube to a full service hardware store (not a big box where they don't know anything) and get some tubing and / or some insta-push fittings. They are fast and work great.

SOURCE: I need a replacement water line for my LG

If the water is leaking from the freezer door hinge the door would have to be replaced as the waterline in the door is foamed in place.

If the leak is from the back where the plastic lines are they are replaceable.

Contact LG @ 1 800 243-0000 and give the exact location of the bad waterline since there a couple on the unit.

How can i turn off the water function on the door but not the ice, the water line keeps leaking on the back of the frig

When I had this problem the water was coming from the top right rear where the water tube feeds the ice maker. The water line INSIDE the frig that feeds the ice maker occasionally freezes up causing an obstruction which causes the water to leak out the rear. This can only happen when the icemaker activates the water feed. You can remove the tube fitting without fear because the valve that feeds water through the line is at the bottom rear of the unit. If the line is frozen inside I remove the ice bin and tray and use a hair dryer to melt the ice.
I have a similar problem with the condenser fan making a tapping/clacking noise which is also a result of ice building up on that. Wish I had a different frig but for now the hair dryer will have to do.

When i use my water on the door water seeps from the back right side underneath frig

You probably have a guick-connect fitting where your water tube goes into your door that is leaking. it looks like it is 1/4 inch but it is not! If that is the problem, you will have get one from a G.E. service center to replace it with. It wont cost much.

Why is water leaking out of my kitchen aid frigs water dispencer?

Bad water valve, not shutting off all the way, replace water valve located on rear of refrig. Just follow water line from wall to water valve(may be by way of filter), unplug refrig from wall, remove rear cardboard or steel cover and you will see valve.

The water connection valve at the bottom right back of the refrigerator leaks badly. Water seems to come from the blue plastic cap on the outside of the valve. Where can I get a part to repair this?

You need to reseal the connection. You have to turn the water source to frig of at the tap valve. You then have to loosen the connector for the frig the one that has the vinyl line running thru it. You will get some water out because water from the tap and vinyl line might be under a little pressure. Remove the nut and the vinyl tubing. See if it has a little ring over the tubing. If not slide the nut farther back on the tubing and cut tubing below the nut. reattach the nut to the blue valve, but don't over tighten the nut make it finger tight. open the tap valve slowly. The tubing will get pressure. Look at the connection that you just fastened to see if it is leaking. If it is tighten the nut a little more. This should stop the leak(do not over tighten the nut as this will cause the tubing to leak again. If there are no leaks you can open the tap valve all of the way.

Water leaking from bottom of unit

For original poster: Check all milky white colored (polyethelne) plastic water lines. These lines tend to get brittle and can crack over a period of time. They extend from the water valve to the ice maker, and from the water valve to the inside of the refrig to a "radiator" so the water can chill, before it runs back out the refrig, past the left side of the refrig behind the bottom grill, through a coupler, and up through the bottom hinge of the freezer door. I'd also advise putting in a separate shut off for the water supply to the refrig so you can have water to the rest of your house when you have a problem with the refrig.

For next user with similar problem: you can check the above, but it may be that the defrost drain is plugged. (on a S x S unit, it is located at the bottom of the freezer compartment, behind the back wall.) If you have a layer of ice on the floor of the freezer, that's a dead give away of a blocked defrost drain tube, Use a turkey baster with hot (not boiling) water to flush it out.

Where is the water filter

Is this a used refrig? If new then you should have a brand new filter. For my LG side-by-side the filter is in the top right corner on the frig side. 1/4 twist and it pulls out. But they are $$$$, I found a 3 pack online cheaper than local

Water in floor

sounds like you have a clogged defrost drain tube. removing back panel of freezer will give you acess to drain trough, melt away the ice with a hair dryer, youll find a drain hole under there somwhere, pouring boiling water down the drain will clear it pretty quickly( i use a steam machine purchased from the infomercials works awesome, after you clear it and all water drain down tube wrap a piece of solid copper wirearound the heater( black calrod heater right above the drain trough) and stick it in the whole maybe an inch or so. now everythime the heater comes on to defrost it will prevent the hole from freezing over
