Replace the FU303 fuse

The FU303 fuse is blown in my SD-643HD5 tv. Is this a fuse I can get anywhere or do I have to order it special. my fuse says 125V E 4A.

Awesome site by the way.

thanks

Nevermind. Found the fuse at RadioShack. Tried it and it blew again. Now it won't go to on anymore it just stays on standby.

Hello...I have had the same problem with replacing this fuse just to have it burn out as soon as we turn the tv off and then back on. Any suggestions as to why it is doing this? Thanks!

Unforunately I got the same problem and my tv is about 5 years old. Have you fix it yet?

  • GregShires Jan 25, 2008

I replaced with a 4amp fuse and it blew. Then I replaced with a 5amp fuse and it blew. Finally I replaced with a 5amp 250volt slow burn fuse. This worked but the Green lamp was Pin Cushioned on the screen giving me 2 images. I figure there was a deeper issue to the multiple fuses blowing. I took it back to Costco and faught with them over what "a reasonable amout of time" was and we agreed that I would get half of the $3000.00 I paid in 2002. Which was almost enough to pay for the 65" Mitsu DLP. I didn't want to put anymore money into a 5 yr. old tv and the picture difference from 2002 to now is increadible. Hope this helps. Now I have to figure out why the HDMI cable from my Cox cable box causes my speakers to pop. :) it's always something!

Hello...I started using a 5 amp fuse and have had no problems since!!!! I know it says 4 amp but when I used them it would burn out as soon as I turned off the tv then back on again. Use the 5 amp and see how it goes. Good Luck!

I have had this TV for about 5-6 year since buying it at Costco. I replace the middle fuse whenever the TV has been on for a while and you turn it off then try to turn it on agin within an hour or so. Or when there is a power surge at my house. I have a $500 power conditioner so it should not be doing this. I get the 4pack of fuses at Radio shack. They are 4 amp fast acting fuses ($3)

Well now my SD-643HD5 burns up the fuse right away as soon as I try to turn the small power button on. I have looked for the service manual online and cant find it for download. Other site recomend replacing the whole power board ($3-400) not sure if it is worth it. On a side note if you didi buy this TV at Costco they will send someone out to look at this for free when you call their concierge service. The new 90day warrantys at Costco dont affect older TV's that were bought before this warranty went into effect. For example I just went back and forth with them to have a 3 year old Vizio HD plasma fixed and they could not end up fixing so they gave me my money back. :) ($2600) I am calling this week to see if they will fix Pioneer. Good Luck & sorry for the long message.!!

PS if you know where to downlaod service manual for
SD-643HD5 please post. thx

I have just been buying it at radio shack. However in my case it seems once the fuse blew for the 1st time, it happens now every few months -- so must be a symptom of a larger issue.

I would suggest replacing the board itself, chances are what caused those fuses to blow is still faulty. did you check those fuses again after you powered it back up?

HDTV Projection monitor will not power on

Problem solved. With the set plugged in(but in stand by mode) I took the back off. There are two LED on the left board that, if on, identify a problem. The D111 LED was on. I traced it to a blown fuse-FU303 which is the center fuse, about the middle of the center circuit board. I tried replacing the fuse 3 times, after each, it would blow. Another chat section on your site suggested using a 5a(up from 4a) fuse; that fixed the problem. The set works great. Your IC fix worked fine, although getting the boards out  was quite a chore. Your link to the instructions on how to R/R the IC chips was invaluable, and the set of instructions on the process was very complete and well done. Thanks for all of your help!

Pioneer SD-643HD5 does not power on

i had the same problem and it was the flyback transformer on the power supply board.it cost me $375 for the board.just make sure you ground yourself because the static electricity could fry it all.when unplugging the cables mark them and be careful.use a jewlers flat head scewdriver to unlock the cables.use a can of compressed air to clean off the dust.

Power comes on, then quickly off...

I have this exact same issue; search engine took me here. I have been experiencing this problem for about a year now. When you power on, the RED standby light goes out, the power light turned GREEN, you might hear a small pop sound, then the RED standby light goes back on. YOU HAVE BLOWN A FUSE. My problem is this is occuring much more frequently now and I'm going through fused like crazy. So I'm looking for a long term solution. To replace the fuse, turn off the standby power switch on the front. Unplug the power cable. Open the back panel. All logic and power modules are on the bottom of the cabinet. Therer is a large power module in the middle. In the middle of this module are 3 fuses. The one that typically blows is the one in the middle. It's a 5 amp fuse, but double check the rating before replacing. Good luck, Mark
