Question about Whirlpool LGQ9858P Gas Dryer

Whirlpool Clean Touch Model LGL88580000

No lint collects in the top lint collector after five uses. A repairman came and cleaned everything and says it really doesn't matter about the lint collector. I'm skeptical. The dryer works fine. Any solutions?

You can check for suction by pulling out the lint screen and holding a piece of paper over it while the dryer is running. If there is suction then it all works correctly. If there is no suction, then there is a clog somewhere inside. You can clear the clog with a long bottle brush or with an attachment from a vacuum cleaner to get inside. If all looks good and still no lint on the screen, the screen may be too short for the dryer and could be a wrong screen for it.

The lint collector is no longer collecting lint...the lint is sticking to the front door and covering the clothes..there is plenty of heat but whatever part exhausts and collects lint isn't ...

It sounds as if you have a significant clog in the exhaust... I am very surprised that it is still working; please investigate for a clog in the exhaust line.

Hair/Lint collecting on the Baffles of the dryer

I once heard you can periodically spray "Spray Starch" on the baffles themselves to alleviate lint and hair buildup. If you can prevent the unwanted particles from building up on the baffles theoretically they should be trapped in the dryer's lint collector.

Our GE gas dryer is burning clothes that are fleece fabric or blankets. Any suggestions?

I recently solved this problem on my ELECTRIC dryer by taking apart the lint collection area. Some dryers allow you to do this by removing a couple screws surrounding the lint screen holder. Others require some dis-assembly of the top and front panel.
Once you have access behind or below the lint screen, use your hands or a strong vacuum (shop-vac) to clean out any collected lint that has fallen below the collection screen and settled in the exhaust duct. I pulled out about 100 cubic inches (~1.6 liters) of collected lint, cat hair, and debris that was obstructing air flow.
Obstructed airflow can cause metal parts near the electric heating element to overheat and scorch clothing and is a serious fire hazard. I expect similar problems can occur with gas dryers.

Whirlpool dryer not drying

your dryer is likely clogged up with lint .. that would be after the lint filter .. the pipe that carries the hot air out is usually completely clogged after that long .. it and the dryer itself (down inside) has to be cleaned about once a year to keep it tip top .. hopefully you can find someone that can take it apart and clean everythiing .. that should get you back to like new performance .. or you could call a few handymen to see what they would charge to clean the lint from your dryer and stack .. or if you are handy there is a special big brush with a string attached .. you pull that thru the stack to clean it .. use a vacuum cleaner to get inside the dryer vent (you can see in the vent when you take the hose off .. excessive lint buildup not only greatly reduces your dryers efficiency but is a fire hazzard as well ..

Gas Dryer - takes to long to dry

huuum At your service!

Sometimes this can happen when the vent line is clogged.

1. Check if the lint filter is full and needs to be cleaned.
Try this first. If the vent line is kinked or blocked
2. Then check if the outside screen covering the exhaust vent if this is even half blocked
with lint there will be no heat! This screen is to keep small animals out!
Try checking this and if it is clogged or the spring loaded door is stuck closed.
Try to clean the lint out of the corners of the flap door,
and or remove the screen permanently!
Take the vent line off the rear of the dryer and try if it works. If it does you know it's the vent line and not the dryer that's the problem the dryer.

You will be fine
Bless You huuum

Cleaning lint

Your Roper dryer is made by Whirlpool, there is no reason to clean lint from around the heater, very little lint collects in that area. Every once in a while you can take the front off by removing 2 screws from under the lint screen, then pry up the top and there are 2 screws that hold the front on inside facing out. After removing the front you can vacuum inside below the drum.
