My Dell Windows 7 laptop won't boot?

Press the Delete key during start up, to enter its bios settings window. At boot sequence selection, select CD ROM as first boot device, Hard disc to second boot device, and deselect all other boot devices. Means, there should be only CD ROM and Hard disc as boot devices, as said above, in sequence. Select 'Save and reboot' at the bios option, the computer will restart with hard disc; provided there is no CD at CD ROM. Gopakumar Gopalan Google

How do i reset my dell latitude d620 to factory settings

Resetting a Dell Latitude to the factory settings allows the user to restore the Dell Latitude to the original operating condition as if it was just taken out of the box. Dell system includes a restore utility called 'Dell Symantec System Restore' to reset or restore your Dell system to factory setting.

Step 1: Before reset any Dell Inspiron laptop, backup your all important data and programs, otherwise you may lose it. It is recommended to use an external storage device for your entire data backup, so that you couldn't lose it in any sudden occurring issue...

Step 3: Press 'F8' key continue until 'Advanced Boot Options' wouldn't be appear.

Step 4: Use your keyboard arrow key to select 'Repair Your Computer' from the list and hit 'Enter'.

Restoring a dell latitude d420 to factory defaults

Hi,
This is true that you need to press the right buttons at the right time or else it will not work. Please make sure no changes have been made to the computer and its Hard Drive. Follow the instructions as under:
  1. Make sure the laptop is properly turned off.
  2. Connect the AC adaptor and turn on the laptop
  3. Immediately press the "Ctrl" key and while keeping it pressed start tapping (keep hitting) the "F11" key you should get the Restore screen with various options to restore and repair the computer.
Hope you find this solution helpful.

Not booting from extrenal cd rom

Hi there.
Go into the bios of the computer, this is usually F2 on start up, go to boot options/priority and set the first boot device to USB, (make sure the external drive is connected). Save the changes and exit the bios, the computer will restart and boot from the external.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!!
