My computer worked fine, then I had it turned off for a few weeks and when I restarted it, it just beeps and the screen is black. I changed and removed nothing, didnt even move the computer, any Ideas? Would this happen because of a power surge. I do have a surge protector on, just wondering if it could still be a problem.

Beeping and no video means that the card failed to come up, and the bios is letting you know. try another card, or test that card in another system.

Do you have the 6-pin PCI-E power connector attached to the new video card? If you do it's possible you power supply is insufficient and may need to be upgraded.

I try to play a game with my graphics card installed but I keep getting a screen full of dots and after a while the computer restarts. What should I do?

Try updating your graphics driver. and lower some of the quality settings in the game so it doesn't push the card as much. If that doesn't help you may need to buy a new graphics card.

Is My Computer Compatible With New Graphics Card?

You need to know if *********** board supports PCI-E, since your new VC is an PCI-E device. Check the mobo's manual if this can support PCI-E, if it is then it will be compatible (the next thing is the OS, check if the card supports your OS).

Comparable cards to the ATI All In Wonder 9700 Pro 128 MB

Hello there. The Radeon 9700 Pro was a high end graphics card in its time. Today the latest Radeon cards are 3870X2, 3870 and 3850 models. The 3850, while mid-high end range, would be a substantial upgrade from the Radeon 9700 Pro.

If you are planning to upgrade your system, make sure you choose the correct type of card (AGP/PCI-E) and that your current system has a good enough power supply to power a new upgrade.

Hope this helps.

Video card installation

You will need to pay close attention to how many beeps & if their short or long. Asus uses the Award BIOS. Beeps are a part of POST. Power On Self Test. Open the link below to find out what your beeps mean.
