Question about Whirlpool Duet GHW9150P Front Load Washer
My washer is just about a year old. After the first few weeks, we began to nice a really bad moldy smell coming out of the washer. I dug around and found a bunch of socks that has gotten stuck in the lip of the seal. They stunk and were moldy so I pulled them all out (and threw them away). Then I ran the washer with bleach (emtpy) and sprayed the entire seal with X-14. The smell went away but it's back! We've tried more bleach cycles, more mold remover stuff and we leave the doo open...it still smells like mold! And, now there's mold growing (black spots) on the rubber seal. Help!
Same problem---moldy smell, especially in towels washed in the machine. My son has the same problem and lives in another town so I know it is not the water. The wash does not smell bad but when it gets wet (ie.when you dry after a shower, it smells moldy. I have used bleach washes and it still occurs cgar
Shepherd, Finkelman, Miller & Shah, LLC, is currently investigating defects and other problems in certain front-loading washing machines manufactured and/or sold by Whirlpool, Kenmore, and LG Electronics, including Kenmore Elite HE3 front load washers, Whirlpool Duet front load washers and LG Tromm, LG XL and other LG model front load washers, which result in the growth of mold/mildew in the machines and which can cause the staining of clothes and other problems.
On August 29, 2007, SFMS filed a Complaint against Sears Holding Corp. involving its Kenmore HE, HE2, HE3, HE4, HE5 and other front-loading automatic washers. If you own a front-loading washing machine that is manufactured by any of the above-mentioned companies and are experiencing the growth of mold/mildew in the machine, visit the following website: www.frontloadwasherclassaction.com

First you have to run and empty hot cycle once a month if you want you can add bleach, white vinegar, or washer magic (you can get it at walmart) use only 2 -3 tablespoons of HE soap and let the washer door open for at least a couple hours when you are done washing for the day. this will allow air to circulate in the washer to help dry it out
