Re: pioneer dvr433h dvd recorder

Can they be played on your computer or another DVD device? It could be a problem with the encoding of the DVD. Check with Pioneer to see if there is a firmware update that may correct this problem.

The proper codec may not be loaded on your computer. Find the format your DVD recorder uses, Google for a codec for that format. Find a player that supports the code, download and install it onto your computer and then try the DVD.

If the person did a firmware upgrade,he might have flashed it with a bad firmware,or the wrong one.You will need to get the original firmware and reflash it and see if that helps.
The other option is the laser might have gone bad in it.

Recording onto DVD

That's because the DVD+R and DVD-R discs are actually different, and the recorder is made to record only on the +R media. It will play back discs recorded by other units on -R discs. But you'll need to purchase the +R type. They are the same price.

Sky+ DVD Recorder Tuning

You need to connect up the Sky+ to your recorder via scart. This will eliminate poor picture quality. The Sky box will be on ext1 on your recorder or something like that

"unknown disc, please, check disc again

this happens all the time on my dvd player. im just about ready to throw it out the window. ive only had it awhile.
i called customer service. they said you need a dvd cleaner to clean the lens. I bought one called dvd dr laser lens cleaner. unfortunately, it rejected that disc as well. you could try it i guess, but good luck. tell me what happens. in the meantime, i'm going to put this piece of garbage up on ebay or throw it out my window. total waste of 300 something dollars. buy the warranty! i didn't and im paying through the nose.
i payed $80 for a new laser about 2 years ago, it did JACK. so, dont do that either. sorry to sound so aggravated, but i have been working on this for a few hours now. i opened it up and tried to look at the lens. looks fine. good luck.

Pick a jhonson's bud -- dip it into the lens cleaner solution -- rub gently on the lens both clockwise and anticlockwsie -- leave it to dry -- cover up -- run the machine.. but be careful -- don't touch the lens with ur finger and dont try to rub roughly -- lens may go forever. still if the problem remains , replace the lens. chhoton
