The auto shut off keeps flashing and I have to unplug it and plug it in to iron for 15 seconds and then it turns off again. It's only 3 months old.

    What do I do?

  • CinVT Mar 14, 2009

Plug iron in, iron warms up, start ironing, red light blinks, iron cools down, unplug iron, plug iron back in, iron warms up, start ironing again.......repeated this 10 times to get my shirt ironed. UGH! I just tried cleaning the iron out with special cleaner - and I had to unplug and replug several times just to clean it and it STILL does not work! Time for a new iron.

Rowenta d1700 red flashes and iron shuts off

I am on my 3rd or 4th Rowenta. I recently bought the Rowenta Effective, Model DX 1700. Once again, I am having the same problem as before, it shuts off after about 30 seconds. From what I am reading, many people are having the same problem. I'm going to have to guess, this is a product defect. Do I contact the company for a refund????

Iron No Longer Heats Up

Recommended solution, gently shake, did not work.

Considering the iron was at a minimum two years old, I decided to purchase another Rowenta. I found the recommended solution documented on a FAQ sheet enclosed with the new iron.

I actually own another Rowenta iron (I now have three) that has the same issue. I will send one iron, the one manufactured in Germany, to a Rowenta Service Center to see if can be repaired - it was the first Rowenta iron I purchased and it provided several good years of service.

Rowenta Iron problems

inside the iron is a thermal switch that has failed to make contact. Dissassemble the iron and you will see a small white ceramic pin sticking up out of the heating chamber and on tip there is a small contact. Above it is another contact that makes the heating element work. Easiest way to fix is to put a small bead of glue on the housing to force the contacts together.

Iron does not heat

Inside the iron is a piece of thermal metal the is supposed to make contact with a small ceramic pin with a metal cap on it. I think this was intended to be a safety device but they fail and the iron will not heat up. The part does not seem to be available so easiest way to fix is to put a small bead of glue on the housing that forces this to make contact.

Not heating

The thermal cutoff device blew and must be replaced. It acts like a fuse when the iron gets too hot. Thay are very
cheap and it would be well worth replacing. Hope this was helpful.
