These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai2_bing.gif,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

PROJECTION TV COLORS DISTORTED

You can try to enter the menu and go to advanced setting and adjust the convergence. Push audio to go to advanced convergence and do the multipoint convergence to re-align the colors. If this doesn't solve, you may need to do a hardware repair.. all projections of this type will need a convergence IC repair sometime during their lifetime.

The switch is definately the way to go. I use the the 150 exclusively. Make sure you replace both IC's and for burned resistors around the IC's. Also look around the ic's to make sure all solder connections are good.

How do you install the convergence part on a Mitsubishi WS55511 big screen tv? The part has prongs on the bottom but I don't know how to attach it.

you must de-solder the output IC first. Then I would suggest that you remove the heat sink by removing the philips screws holding it to the pc board. you will find white heat sink compound on the bottom of the heat sink. clean this off and remove the output IC. put some heat sink compound on the new IC and install in in the holes on the pc board. be careful removing the solder on the pc board. I like to use solder wick. Install the new IC and solder it up as the old one was. remember to check the convergence in both analog and digital, as you have to converge both for it to remember the settings. Hope this helps. TV repair guy :)
