Hello,
Install the Control Center CC3, if it is not already installed. Connect the MFC-5460CN to the computer. Open the CC3 software. Click the Scan button. You will have the choice to Scan to Picture, Scan to OCR, Scan to E-mail, or Scan to file.
You click to E-mail. The MFC scans the document and opens the default E-mail program (Outlook, Outlook Express), attaches the scanned picture and all that is left for you to do is to supply the E-mail address where the document is to be sent.

If you have problems doing that, scan to file then open the E-mail client to create a new message and attach the file you scanned.

When you scan a doc to email, it will open either outlook express/Windows live mail or outlook and use that to send your email. If you have not configured either of these programs on your pc then it cannot send anything. the way around this is to scan the docs into your say My Documents/Documents folder and then attach them to your email as attchments.

I scan using M/S windows scan and fax app. I save the scan. Then I open the scan and print, selecting PDF printer on computer. From there I can open to read, send by email or print a hard copy from my printer.

scan it to a file
Find program called hpscan in your list of all programs to scan to file.
This is usually what it is called with hp scanners
Note the directory that the file is scanned and saved to .
and then attach file to email message using attach file option on email program when you compose email message.

Scan it in pdf format and save it in your favorite location and white composing the email click on attach button, a window will open asking path.Select the pdf document from the favorite location and click on attach to attach the file and send the email.

To send copy of printed documents to others, follow the steps below.

1. use your scanner to scan your printed documents, save it to jpg format.

2. Use your email to send the pictures.

login to your email
compose or create the message
attached the images
send.

Right click on the clipping, click on send to, email. It will open your email client and automatically attach it.

The information you need will be based on the email client (software) that you use and on device that you use to scan a document onto your hard disk. Please, answer the following questions:

(01) Is the document on your hard disk already?

(02) Do you have only a hard copy of the document and you wish to scan it onto your hard disk and then send it as an attachment?

(03) What is the make and model of the machine (MFC, All-In-One, scanner) you use to scan documents onto your hard disk?

(04) What email client (software) do you use?
(e.g. Outlook Express, Outlook, Eudora, Thunderbird, Netscape Mail, etc.)
