The klystron tube that provides radio (micro) waves to the enclosure is not working. Problem could be (and most likely is) the high voltage power supply that feeds the klystron tube. Alternately, it is the tube itself. In this society (throw away), it may be less costly to just find another microwave on sale or on Craig's list and replace yours.
The klyston is very expensive and the power supply replacement is labor intensive.... sorry.

I'm on my second microwave model mmv4205--the 1st was bought 2 mo. ago, set-up put in cup of water to check out heating--micro began smoking--unplugged and aired out house. I returned to store and got a new one same model, I figured the 1st when was defective. Got 2nd one installed and worked ok for 2months, last night had major smoking out of vent again (no fire) smelt like plastic melting, unplugged unit and aired out house again, smoke detectors were blaring. This morning called store and will be returning--I also checked Maytags website for recalls none for this model. I got these microwaves from same company store but two different locations, but same problem---Maytag needs to do a recall before someones house burns down!

I mistakenly used the "cook time" instead of timer, and cooked for 22 minutes with an empty oven. The display went totally blank and the mw will not work now.

If I use the High setting, it trips my fuse box. I seem to need a lower setting (5) for recipes that call for High, since they otherwise cook in half the time on High, or overcook..
