Question about Bissell 7920 ProHeat Pro-Tech Upright Wet/Dry Vacuum

Bissell ProHeat 7920 Carpet Cleaner

I disassembled the main body for cleaning. On re-assembly the Smart Mix switch is not correctly located and does not move the plunger valve. I spent three hours trying different ideas - now I need help!

Many thanks for this, but I am still struggling to correctly locate the piston valve with the threaded outside of the Smartmix dial. How do they do this at the factory and has the designer been fired from his job?

Sounds good - I'll give it a go.

I managed to sort this. The small plunger valve sits in a little square crevice next to the smartmix dial - it does NOT sit in the middle as it first seems. You then have to get the lip of the smartmix dial to sit in the cut out on the side of the plunge valve so that it moves up and down when the switch is turned.
It take patience, but it is possible - no need to use any force.

Try this... It's easy once you know how, but very, very hard to describe!

Set the smart mix dial to water only. Then position the square end of the plunger over the cutout in the corner where it has to eventually sit. Then angle the top of the plunger towards the centre of the dial and the grooved part of the dial should slot into the cutout on the side of the plunger. The idea is that as the dial turns, it pulls the plunger up and down.

Once this is in place I found it best to then set the dial to heavy traffic before reassembly (pulling the pluger to it's highest position). That way, there's less chance of it falling back out again.

    Good luck!

When you put the cover back on, was the piston on the bottom of the smart mix knob? If it was, did you have the smart mix knob in the water only setting? Sometimes the flow indicator cap may be on too tight, loosen it while it is running until fluid starts to leak out, then tighten it until it starts spinning. On the bottom of the tanks, are the seals on the tank and not sitting the the hole. You may have pinched a line when you put the top cover back on. May still have junk in the lines somewhere, try running a mix of vineager and water (not on the carpet), that mix may clean it out.

Bissell 7920 ProHeat Problems--No solution spray

Is the smart mix valve turning and stopping where is is supposed to, if it turns all of the way around, then it is broken inside the top cover. Try replacing the smart mix bottle insert and cap asm part #2101795 . Make sure that the rubber gasket is on the valeve asm. at thebottom of the smart mix bottle. If not, it has to be on the valve.
