Re: Computer wont completely boot

Nope a bad battery will not keep a machine from booting..

Does it shut off or do you get an error or does nothing come up when you turn it on???

My compaq CQ60 430SA wont turn on, I shut it down but It just wont start and the hard disk light doesnt turn on

The most likely problem is that the battery is dead or is in need of charge. If it won't take a charge then the charger is bad, or the battery is bad and is in need of replacement. The latter is the most likely cause. Get a high capacity battery for the computer off of or and you won't regret it.

Good luck on this computer repair.

No power

you need to plug in the computer and leave it pluged in for about 12 hours it should than boot up.The problem is the battery its going dead and it must be charged for it to boot even when you plug it in to electric.
if you get a new battery for it than it will come o right away.

Computer wont boot up

Take the battery out and try to boot the computer up with the external power supply.. If this works the the battery is shorted. If it doesn't then you will need to try another power supply, if that doesn't work then something internal has shorted in laptop

It should power on when plugged in, even if the battery is pulled out of the laptop.Try holding the power button down for 10 seconds to see if it boots up when its plugged in.

Compaq presario 2500 notebook won't boot

This sounds like a weird solution, but it worked for me. I recently bought a used Presario 2500, it worked when the guy showed it to me, when I got home it didn't work two days later. I tried several tips from the web, finally I started pushing several buttons randomly. I pushed the Email (Envelope) button, and the computer powered on suddenly. Now, the Envelope button is the only button that will power the computer on. When the computer is on, that button will also bring up Outlook, but when the computer is off, that button turns it on. Let me know if this fixes it for you.

Battery indicator flashes even when plugged in to electrical plug, computer recognizes plug-in. Computer will not run with power cord.

The battery indicator flashing when plugged in to electrical plug means your battery is completely dead and won't charge. You're computer should run with just the power cord. Your power cord most likely needs replacement.

If you know anyone with the same model of laptop ask if you can borrow their power cord and/or battery to test it out. It is rare for the problem to be the motherboard, though it does happen.

It may just be the power cord at fault as the computer should run without the battery, so you should replace the power cord, as it is probably the reason the battery is completely dead.

If the battery is at least a year old I would replace it since they generally don't last too much longer than a year.

Computer wont start

Nothing is booting ......when in earnest I say that is the BIOS screen at the beginning not going too. When you say the lights all go but the computer does not BOOT can you clarify please what goes. Now you say the processor fan does not work I imagine you are INSIDE the unit to know this try pushing down on the CPU firmly with your hands it may have dislodged slightly it can do this sometimes.....Ive seen it happen. Now for the not booting I need to know what is if any?.
