Please, don't replace anything, stop letting people rip you off, try this! The insulation in the ribbon cable is poor. The conductors in the cable are crossed. The ribbon cable is actually two ribbons pressed together, and the conductors between the two cables are shorting or becomming crossed. Lift the two cables apart, place a piece of paper between them, fold the edges of the paper over the cable so that it does not slip out, and make sure to shove it all the way down to where it will meet the plastic display panel housing. There, problem solved.

The is the second failure I've had over the past two years. I was able to have Sears come out and repair the unit. They replaced the module board and the ribbon cable .I tried repairing myself by using insulation between the two ribbons but didn't work. The problem is caused by a weakness in the design as the heat from the oven door rises up into the module housing.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rg7Dp4LBxtA

it seems its the connections ribbons on the control panel is wrong

will give you a clue look down the replys to the video to get more info

some very carefull cleaning is needed inside the front panel rework some connections

i use deoxit 5 and a rag
spray the deoxit to a rag then wipe the connection ribbons
then dowse the plugs with the deoxite
wait a while and re plug then carefully

should cure it

i would add a blob of grease to the sockets once its all running
to avoid further corrossion

hope this helps

F76 error code on ge oven

One of the most common problems with GE electric built in ovens is the error code "F7? shown on the display. I've seen it many times before and today I had a service call for the same problem again. The error code "F7" will be displayed along with a beeping sound if the ERC (Electronic Range Control) or "clock" senses one or more buttons on the control panel stuck. It could be displayed in any mode: "cook", "clean" or even more often in the "time of the day" mode. In order to fix it, the control panel has to be replaced. This is a very simple job and you will need just a 1/4? nut driver and a Phillips screwdriver. - See more at: http://www.askgene.com/2007/06/23/oven-error-codes/ge-oven-error-code-f7-and-how-to-fix-it/#sthash.pVUT3Nzb.dpuf

GE DOUBLE OVEN MODEL #jkp28b0f7bb FLASHES CODE #F7 EC AND BEEPS . WHAT IS MOST LIKELY PROBLEM

F7 indicates a stuck button or the erc electronic range control has failed. First check each button one at a time and feel for a click and full retraction any abnormalties replace the key pad. If that checks out good the erc will need replacing. Here is a link that should help http://appliancehelponline.com/ovenerc.html

Beeping with f7 display

HI this is a touch pad or key pad issue. In most models, the touch or key pad are integrated. In this case, you will need to replace the entire control board or EOC(clock).

Now, if the touch or key pad is separate from the main control board, and linked, via linking ribbon, i would advise to use the procedure below to isolate the problem area.

Determine if problem is with the Key Panel or Control by:
1. Pushing CLEAR/OFF pad.
2. Disconnecting Ribbon Cable from control and waiting at least 32 seconds to see if Code recurs

If code recurs, problem is in the control. Replace control.

If code does not recur, problem is with the Key Panel.

Hi
On a GE range oven F7 indicates either a function pad button is stuck or the clock on the oven is malfunctioning

On the 99 Range oven F7 indicates a shorted Clear/Off Key due to membrane switch or a shorted control or connector

On the GE XL44 Self Clean Oven F7 is Stuck keypad or control relay malfunction

Error code F7 keeps coming up, what does this mean?

F1 error and beeping. Don't bother getting GE out there. Cost me $90 to learn they don't make the clock. WOuld have been $500+ for the control panel anyway. Better off just buying a new one. Planned obsolescence I guess. I won't buy GE again.
